Abstract

640.png

In this talk, Prof. Yuanshen Qi will provide an overview of the projects he has been working on in the past three years. These includes:

- Producing nanostructured bulk materials exhibiting record high thermal stability via a new route

- Discovering a new type of gradient material with gradient vacancy concentration and gradient bandgap narrowing for unique functional performance

- Manipulating solid state dewetting of thin film by introducing phase transformation as a new strategy

- Plastically deforming defect-free single-crystalline nanowhiskers via chemical stress from imbalanced interdiffusion

- Producing ferroelectric hafnium-zirconium-oxide thin films as a type of memory material consuming record low thermal budget

In the end, Yuanshen Qi will talk about his main research plan at GT in the field of electric current assisted engineering of metallic nanostructures.

About the Speaker

Prof. Yuanshen Qi received his BEng (Hons) in Materials Science and Engineering from Wuhan University of Technology and Monash University, and Ph.D. from Monash University in 2016. He was a postdoctoral fellow in the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology before joining GTIIT as an assistant professor in October 2020. At GTIIT, Dr. Qi's lab (Electrically-assisted Nanometallurgy)  focuses on utilizing electric current to control the evolution of crystal lattice defects.
