Before the Fifth Session of the 1st Board Meeting, Professor Peretz Lavie was interviewed by the media.
Media: How do you feel about the staff dorms and student dorms in the North Campus?
Lavie: I'm pleased about it. I enjoyed the visiting. They are very nice and beautiful. Both the staff dorms and student dorms. If we want students to study hard, they need nice apartments.
Media: The enrollment in Guangdong province is drawing to a close, and the result is satisfying. The preparation period is coming. How do you feel about it?
Lavie: I'm pleased about the enrollment. I'm satisfied with both the number and quality of students admitted. We admitted 151 students in Guangdong province. 77 of them are from Shantou. The admission process in other provinces is soon to begin. If the quality and number of students are of the same level with Guangdong, I will be very happy. They will be excellent students.
Media: What would you like to say to the first students of GTIIT?
Lavie: GTIIT is an excellent university. We have superb faculty members, and the first year of faculty are mostly from Technion. The coming students need to study very hard. Here, they not only receive the best education, but also experience innovation and entrepreneurship.
Media: You just met with Mr. Chen Liangxian, the Secretary of the CPC Shantou Municipal Committee. How was that and would you have something to share with us?
Lavie: We got fruitful results. We reached three agreements. One is that Shantou will establish an international school for children of our faculty. Second is about the design of the South Campus. We will invite architects from Technion to design the first phase of the South Campus. Third is the Inauguration Ceremony of GTIIT on December 18th. It is not only a celebration for GTIIT, but also a celebration for Shantou.
