Position Description
The incumbent takes an active part in the IT team to provide first and second line technical support to end users.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Provide guidance and consultancy to the wider academic community in the design and development of computing services and associated to support teaching, administration and learning activities;
· Set up and configure desktop computers, peripherals and accounts assigning security level;
· Troubleshoot, diagnose problems, implement corrective action procedures within prescribed guidelines and/or escalate to other technical resources as appropriate;
· Act as a customer liaison for the technical support of problems and concerns;
· Ensure that all customers adhere to the regulations about behavior in order to maintain an acceptable standard and a suitable learning environment within GTIIT;
· Actively keep up to date with the services that IT Department provides and any new developments. Pursue a program of continuing personal development, including development of specialist skills and knowledge required for the particular service and/or subject area;
· Some out of hours on-call support will be required;
· Any other duties appropriate to the grade and role of the person appointed.
Required Job Specifications
· Required qualification: Diploma or above in Computer Science, Information Technology or related disciplines.
· Required work experience: 0-2 years
Required Job Competencies
· Fluency in Chinese and English (spoken and written), CET 6 or equivalent;
· Deploy software by various means in an enterprise environment;
· Knowledge of patching, supporting, administering and configuring server operating systems and applications;
· Understanding of LAN/WAN communications, LDAP and directory services and network printing;
· Experience of computer systems, including Windows based desktops and Servers;
· Excellent communications and interpersonal skills, ability to communicate effectively with staff and students, with a positive approach to customer care;
· Good problem solving and organizational skills;
· Willingness to work flexibly and to provide some support out of office hours;
· Ability to work under own initiative and as a member of a team, and work well under pressure.
