Guangdong Technion Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT) in Shantou, Guangdong Province, is looking for an experienced Ph.D. in analytical chemistry to manage an analytical lab and provide analytical chemistry services to faculty members for supporting their research.

Position descriptions:

Establishing and running a new analytical lab providing services to researchers. The lab includes a large variety of analytical instruments and technologies, including chromatography, optical spectroscopies and mass spectrometry (UV-VIS-NIR-IR, Fluorescence and fluorescence lifetime, Raman, ICP, AES, GC, HPLC, LC, GCMS, LCMS, ICPMS, etc.). The responsibilities include:

· Assisting in choosing and purchasing of proper equipment/materials for the labs, installing and testing them.

· Writing operation manuals of the instruments for the users (graduated students and faculty members).

· Teaching the users and assisting them in operating the instruments.

· Developing of analytical methods and procedures for the users.

· Taking care of time-sharing and scheduling the work on the instruments.

· Performing analyses when requested.

· Taking care of maintenance and keeping the lab facilities operational and ready for the users.

· Taking care of charging the users, if requested, and according to faculty policy.

· Taking care of safety issues in the lab.

· Taking care of keeping proper spare parts and consumables for continuous operation of the instruments.

· Supervising and guiding of technicians, (if technicians are hired).

· Supervising the work of the users, ensuring proper operation and reliable results.

· Taking care of routine administrative tasks related to the analytical lab.

· Participating in research projects carried out by faculty members, during free time.

Position requirements:

· Ph.D. degree in analytical chemistry.

· Fluent English: speaking, reading and writing.

· Experience in working with a large variety of analytical instruments and providing analytical services.

· The position is in GTIIT for a period of at least three years.

· Traveling to the Technion in Haifa, Israel for a training period.

· Good communication and educational skills.

· Ability of performing literature search and finding analytical methods and procedures.

· Ability of reading scientific papers and adopting analytical procedures.

· Ability of solving technical problems in an analytical lab.
