Dr. Ruben Smit is an employee at GTIIT for teaching. He received his BSc and MSc in chemistry from the University of Waikato in New Zealand. In 2000, Ruben also received his DPhil from Waikato University, the title of his thesis was, "A New Method for Determining Condensed and Uncondensed Structures in Lignin." After receiving his DPhil, Ruben managed a laboratory at the New Zealand Forest Research Institute, and subsequently a laboratory in a Philip Morris International production facility in The Netherlands. Ruben has been teaching at universities in China since 2005, and since 2013 at he has been teaching at the Shantou University Medical College where he is an Associate Professor.
