Position Description
The incumbent will be responsible for the housing and residence life in student dormitories. In addition to leading the Residence Assistants and meet other staff of dormitory, s/he should also take the following responsibilities.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Ensure the smooth operation of dormitories;
· Lead the Residence Assistant team to support the residents;
· Refer residents to proper campus offices and support services;
· Oversee the student conduct process, including education, training, and case management, enforce behavior codes and meet with students who break policies;
· Provide individual case management to students related to behavioral intervention and campus safety;
· Oversee housing assignment, moving-in, moving-out and room change process;
· Mediate roommate conflicts;
· Conduct health and safety inspection together with other departments in the dormitories;
· Plan and implement social activities in the residence halls;
· General administrative work for the dormitories;
· Support international students and students from Hong Kong and Macau;
· Shift duty at nights and during holidays, and work during non-office hours for emergency need;
· Undertake other tasks and responsibilities as may reasonably be required.
Required Job Specifications
· Required qualification / academic degree: Master degree from an internationally reputable university, preferably in psychology, social work, education, arts or relevant subjects.
· Required experience: Working experiences in higher education institutions preferred.
Required Job Competencies
· Language ability: Fluent in both written and spoken Chinese (Putonghua) and English;
· Strong sense of responsibility and initiative, and good organizational skills;
· Good interpersonal and communication skills to work in an international, cross-cultural work environment;
· Ability to lead a team to work on multiple tasks under pressure;
· Strong sense of fairness and confidentiality;
· Ability to handle emergencies and special cases;
· Available for shift duty at nights and in holidays.
