Position Description  

The Materials Science and Engineering Program within GTIIT is looking for a motivated lab technician and manager to support the research and training activities in a high-end X-ray diffractometer laboratory.

Position Responsibilities

1. Maintain the equipment of the X-ray lab (the tools, spare parts, consumables, etc.) including interaction with the equipment suppliers

2. Maintain and implement all safety requirements of the lab

3. Interface with various research groups to understand X-ray diffraction characterization needs and help to develop experimental plans to provide structural characterization of materials

4. Provide training to users for equipment, operation and data analysis

5. Adhere to and propagate modern standards in data analysis

6. Provide X-ray instrument service when needed and schedule access and operation for various users

7. Review experimental data, communicate results to projects and help draw conclusions to further material understanding

8. Establish procedures for safety and operation with stakeholders

9. Develop new methods and equipment together with stakeholders

10. Keep lab clean and tidy and keep logbooks up to date

    
           

Requirements

1. Master or Ph.D. degree in Materials Science or Engineering, Metallurgy, or Condensed Matter Physics

2. >2-years hands-on experience in X-ray diffraction technique

3. Knowledge in crystallography

4. Advanced computing skills (scientific software, linux desirable)

5. Excellence in safety aspects and quality Good communication skills, good command of English and Chinese

6. Ability to learn and apply advanced methods in X-ray diffraction

7. Ability of solving technical problems and self-learning

8. Ability of reading scientific papers and adopting research procedures

9. Work in a team and give support
