Tjalfe G. Poulsen is Associate Professor at the Guangdong Technion Israel Institute of Technology. Dr. Poulsen is an environmental engineer and holds two MSc degrees (Aalborg University, Denmark, 1991 and University of Washington, Seattle USA, 1994) and a PhD degree (Aalborg University, 1997) in this field. He spent 2 years at Hiroshima University, Japan (1998-1999) as a post-doctoral researcher, and has since worked at Aalborg University (2000–2013), Xi'an Jiaotong – Liverpool University, China (2013–2016) and Technion Israel Institute of Technology, Israel (2016–2017).
Dr. Poulsen main research interests include transport, transfer and transformation processes in porous media (including soil & groundwater, waste materials and biofilters). Sustainable solid waste management (including biological waste treatment, waste_to_energy, nutrient & materials recycling, and landfill management), and environmental impact assessment/life cycle assessment. He has more than 20 years interdisciplinary research experience using experimental (lab and field), computational (numerical) and statistical methods and have currently more than 80 international peer review journal publications.
