David Perez de Lara

Research Scientist

David Perez de Lara got his PhD in Condensed Matter Physics with honors and European Doctorate mention in 2003 at Autonoma University of Madrid (Spain) in collaboration with National Research Council (Italy). He has been researcher at ESTEC – European Space Agency (ESA) in Noordwijk (The Netherlands), Marie Curie fellow of the European Network on Superconducting Detectors in the Italian National Research Council, post-doc fellow of the European Research Training Network DEQUACs (Italy), Associate professor at Complutense University of Madrid and Research Scientist in IMDEA Nanoscience Institute in Madrid (Spain). He is qualified as Senior Lecturer in Physics by the European Association for quality assurance in higher education (ANECA) and got the distinguished researcher distinction of the Spanish National Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities and State Agency of Research (Programme I3) in 2019. He has carried out different management and scientific coordination activities like scientific deputy and manager of nano/micro fabrication clean room and Superconductivity and liquefaction Labs in Spain and Italy. He’s also mastering in MBA and Big Data and Business Intelligence by the European School of Business of Barcelona (Spain). He is now serving at the Guangdong Technion – Israel Institute of Technology as Research Scientist in the Materials Science and Engineering Department. He has published over 50 research papers and refereed in different research topics in high impact journals (Nature, Physical Review B, Applied Physics Letters, 2D Materials, Advanced Materials, …). His research interests and contributions are mainly focused on Materials Science and Engineering in 2D materials and devices and Condensed Matter Physics in Superconductivity. He carries out his research in Prof. Lanza’s group and is mainly devoted to investigate how to improve electronic devices using 2D materials, with special emphasis on two-dimensional (layered) dielectrics and memristors for non-volatile digital information storage and artificial intelligence computing systems.
