Recently, Mao Jianhua, Vice President of Beijing Enterprises Water Group Limited (BEWG), and his team visited Guangdong Technion - Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT). GTIIT Pro-Vice Chancellor Lin Danming, Pro-Vice Chancellor & Director General Yigal Cohen, Pro-Vice Chancellor Queena Yi, Director of Student Affairs Lawrence Liao, GTEC Director Michael Lv and faculty members from Environmental Science and Engineering as well as Chemical Engineering held discussion with guests. They also visited Deputy Dean of Undergraduate Studies Varenyam Achal's lab and other research labs. Zhao Zhitao, Vice Mayor of Shantou, listened to the preliminary concept of building the Shantou International (Israel) Environmental Ecology Industry-University-Research Innovation Center. 

Zhao Zhitao, Vice Mayor of Shantou, fully confirmed the important role of this discussion which can promote the scientific and technological development of Shantou. He pointed out that innovation is our primary driver of growth and talent is our primary resource. Improving the ability of innovation and attracting talents is the top priority of the current work of Shantou. It is necessary to make good use of the strengths that scientific research institutes and universities such as GTIIT can provide and deepen university-enterprise cooperation, promote the integration of Industry-University-Research, and support the high-quality development of Shantou with scientific innovation.

PVC Lin extended a warm welcome to BEWG delegation. During the meeting, Xue Xiaofei, the dean of BEWG research institute presented their projects, including the "BEWG technical verification platform". GTIIT associate professor Xiao Keke, Wang Qian, Gao Xi, research assistant Chen Danlin and lab manage Guan Fanyi introduced their scientific research projects.

BEWG team fully affirmed GTIIT's educational philosophy and scientific research strength, hope to have further cooperation in the fields of waste treatment and new water services, and plan to share the newly built technology verification platform for GTIIT’s scientific research teams to carry out scientific research experiments.

After the meeting, the delegation visited GTIIT labs, including the Sludge Treatment and High Value Utilization Lab, Wastewater Treatment and Resources Recovery Lab, Microbial Ecology Lab, Multiphase Reactor & Clean Energy Lab and Advanced Membrane Separation Technology Lab at the North Campus. They learned about the world-class equipment here and conducted in-depth exchanges with researchers.
