Posting for Faculty Positions

GTIIT aims to create a unique and supportive academic and research international community that will become part of the large Technion community in Haifa-Israel and New-York-USA.

We are looking for top-talent as well as seasoned leading  researchers that are looking for a unique challenge of establishing a new  science and technology institute and see it grow to a leading world institution  in research, education and innovation with a significant impact on the  environment.

Faculty positions are available in the following disciplines:

College of Engineering
 Biotechnology and Food Engineering
 Chemical Engineering
 Environmental Engineering
 Materials Science and Engineering

College of Science
 Chemistry
 Mathematics
 Physics

Regular academic positions  are offered at the following levels:
 Assistant Professor
 Associate Professor
 Full Professor
Teachers – based on excellence in teaching

Although all appointments will be based on individual merit, we are  actively interested in appointing groups of researchers – multi-disciplinary or  disciplinary – focused on a relevant research hub. Here lies the opportunity  for an enterprising leader or leaders to gather a group of researchers in one place, provide them with the best facilities and equipment, and make a unique research contribution that would otherwise have to rely on difficult collaborations among colleagues from different institutions, countries and cultures. If you have an idea along these lines – please do not hesitate to contact us!

GTIIT faculty members may have a secondary appointment in an  academic Department of the Technion-Haifa, with the accompanying rights and responsibilities as defined in the Academic Regulations of the Technion (Haifa).

Academic Track

GTIIT views the tenure track system as important to ensuring  academic freedom in research and extramural activity related to the goals of GTIIT. Initial appointments, promotions and granting of tenure will be based on Technion–Israel Institute of Technology academic standards and, at least for the initial years, will be conducted based on approval of the relevant Senate  committees of the Technion. Thus regular tenure-track/tenured faculty of GTIIT will have two homes – an academic home at the Technion-Haifa, and an employment home at GTIIT.

Guidelines for Evaluating Technion Academic staff for Tenure and  Promotions and are based on excellence in research, teaching and innovation.

Global Career

Technion is one of a handful of universities that has established a research presence overseas. Jacobs Technion–Cornell Institute and Guangdong Technion-Israel Institute of Technology will join the Technion–Haifa to create a global network of research, teaching and innovation.

Researchers at GTIIT will be encouraged to create research collaborations with Technion-Haifa and Technion-Cornell researchers and spend semesters and/or summers on the Haifa campus to strengthen these research and teaching connections.

Research Funding

Theoreticians and experimental scientists will receive generous  start-up packages based on needs, aimed to ensure establishment and operations of their research groups and/or laboratories for up to 5 years. During that period faculty will be expected to bring in research funding that will ensure the successful continuation of their research endeavors.

Start-up packages will include special equipment and expendables, technical support staff for laboratories, funding for post-doctoral fellows and  doctoral students at levels commensurable with that of leading research universities in the world and in China.
