Pursue passions at GTIIT

I was interested in mathematics and physics since primary school, thus I hoped to study in an outstanding STEM university after Gaokao. I also wanted to experience international education, so I focused on the domestic Sino-foreign cooperative universities with independent legal status. As the only sino-foreign joint university focusing on science and technology, GTIIT met my expectations. Then I began to learn more about GTIIT through Internet and my teachers.

I was attracted by GTIIT for the following reasons -- its academic and teaching are based on the standards of the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology, the world-renowned science and technology institution; it attaches great importance to laboratory construction; the ratio of students to teachers is about 10:1; it has abundant resources; the teachers are enthusiastic and responsible; it cultivates three cohorts of outstanding graduates. Therefore, I took GTIIT as my first choice and came here as I wished.

Adapt to university life

Preparatory semester is the first stage of my university life. The main purpose of preparatory semester is to help us adapt to the English teaching environment, thus the courses are not that difficult. Listen to the teacher carefully in class and work hard on English are necessary to get used to the semester smoothly.

The other purpose of preparatory semester is to establish our own study habits. For me, I preview before class, review after class and attend every class. Taking classes is important to adapt to English teaching environment through abundant listening, speaking, reading and writing training. Teachers encourage us to solve problems efficiently. Therefore, I never leave any problem till the next day. Every student can make an appointment with the teacher to ask questions in the Office Hour.

Our schedule in preparatory semester is full, and we usually only have ten minutes to go to the next classroom between classses. Many students rush to the classroom for the front row, which has become a scenery at GTIIT.

Think independently and ask questions

Our teachers are amiable and patient. They leave enough time for us to understand the knowledge in class, asking us if we have any question.

At GTIIT, students are encouraged to think independently and ask questions. Even if you ask a question that seems easy, the teacher will answer carefully and even show surprise. It greatly increases our confidence in asking questions.

Work hard to pursue my dream

I enjoy playing basketball and football, as well as going to the gym after class. GTIIT is equipped with wonderful sports venues and facilities for us to exercise and relax. The public kitchen in the dormitory is also a good place for students to cook and chat. On the weekend of the preparatory semester, I made dumplings with my classmates. It was very delicious!

Becoming an excellent scientific researcher has always been my dream. The four-year-study is important in my life. I hope I can establish rigorous scientific thinking and work hard to realize my dream.
