Colorful cultural life is the important part of university life. Recently, Guangdong Technion - Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT) held a variety of cultural activities to let the teachers and students feel the charm of humanities and art.
Fragrance Salon
Filled with pleasant scent, a fragrance salon was held on the South Campus of GTIIT. During the lecture, teachers and students explored the world of aroma and approach the olfactory art.
There are 12 distinct types of fragrance families and perfumes with aromatic elements extracted from personalized sources such as plants, flowers, woods, etc. In addition, there are 4 differents types of aromatherapies. Among them, plaster diffusers utilize raw materials of lavender, lemon, jasmine, peppermint, rosemary, etc. and have benefits for health. The components provide a sense of comfort, pleasure, and tranquility.
Making plaster diffusers by hand is the highlight of the event. Participants mixed various fragrances to create their own aromatherapy ornaments and enjoyed the process. It allowed them to gain a deeper understanding of the diversity of aromatherapy.
The success of the event opens a door to fragrance culture and enables them to appreciate the profound cultural and artistic dimensions of olfaction. Fragrance conveys a scent and a multi-dimensional and metaphysical expression method of culture, similar to sculpture and poetry.
Coffee Salon
Making coffee, tasting coffee, quizzes.. Recently, a coffee salon was held on the South Campus of GTIIT.
Through engaging stories and concise charts, the discussion ranged from the market size and per capita sales of China's coffee industry to worldwide major coffee-producing regions, and finally to three coffee revolutions historically and the upcoming fourth coffee revolution.
The presentation emphasized greenness, innovation, and regional characteristics in coffee. For greenness, the "green coffee issue" and several environmental planting certifications are the current hot topics. When referring to regional characteristics, the production and development of distinctive local coffee, represented by Yougan coffee in Shantou, would be the future of coffee industry in China.
Finally, the participants worked together to experience coffee production techniques including grinding and tips for brewing bagged coffee and tasted the coffee of various brewing methods.
The event ended up with the aroma of coffee. The participants spent an unforgettable night in the enjoyable atmosphere and expanded their understanding of coffee.
