At the beginning of the new year, Guangzhou Rising Dragon Recreation Industrial Co., Ltd. donated 1 million yuan to Guangdong Technion - Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT) to support the development and talent cultivation of the university.

At the donating ceremony, Prof. Gong Xingao, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chancellor of GTIIT delivered a letter of thanks and a donation medal to Mr. Peng Xuewen, Chairman of Guangzhou Rising Dragon Recreation Industrial Company. Prof. Lin Danming, Pro-Vice Chancellor of GTIIT presided over the ceremony.

Dr. Queena Yi, Pro-Vice Chancellor for Development of GTIIT and President of GTIIT Education Foundation and representatives of GTIIT administration departments attended the ceremony.

Chancellor Gong expressed heartfelt appreciation to Guangzhou Rising Dragon Recreation Industrial Company for its generous donation and to Mr. Peng Xuewen's recognition and expectations of GTIIT on behalf of all faculty and students. He said that this donation would be initially used for the culture construction of GTIIT's south campus to create a characteristic atmosphere and further enhance the cultural "soft power" of this Sino-foreign university of science and engineering. The remaining funds will be used to promote the construction of Sino-Israel Innovation Education Research Center, to promote the continuous progress of innovation education in China.

Mr. Peng Xuewen highly recognized the innovative education system of GTIIT, and the outstanding achievements of the university in discipline construction, talent cultivation, scientific research, campus construction and other aspects. He hoped to take the donation as an opportunity to nurture more outstanding innovative talents. "The innovative education here is what I have dreamed of, and the talents cultivated at GTIIT are exactly what the society need."  He conveyed his wishes that GTIIT students would study hard and improve their logical thinking and innovation ability.

At the ceremony, Dr. Queena Yi represented the university to sign the donation agreement with Mr. Peng Xuewen.

GTIIT's development relies on full support from the government and society. The university will strive to meet expectations and keep moving forward. GTIIT Education Foundation will properly manage this donation to promote cultural construction of GTIIT south campus and establishment of Sino-Israel Innovation Education Research Center, creating more spiritual wealth for teachers and students. The university will continuously contribute its unique strength to cultivating innovative talents in China and stepping up Sino-foreign cooperation in science and engineering education.
