Sima Yaron

Overview

Professor Sima Yaron works at the Department of Biotechnology and Food Engineering at Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, and heads the laboratory of Molecular Microbiology of Food-Borne Pathogens. She received her BSc in 1994 and PhD in 1999, both from the Technion. She then served as a postdoctoral fellow at the Food Science Department at Rutgers University in NJ, USA. Since 2001 she has been a Technion faculty member. She has concentrated on research and participated in the academic and administrative life. Among her many activities and positions, Prof. Yaron served as vice dean for undergraduate studies at the Technion, member of the Board of the Grand Water Institute, member of the Israeli National Security Council of "Bioterrorism in the Age of Terrorism", and as departmental coordinator of undergraduate studies. Prof. Yaron conducts research in areas of microbial food safety, particularly on mechanisms of resistance and virulence of food-borne pathogens.
