Overview

Dr Kreuzpaintner was awarded a PhD in physics from The University of Hamburg, Germany in 2010. He then joined Technical University Munich as a postdoctoral fellow where he worked on multiferroic thin film materials using x-ray and neutron scattering techniques for their analysis. He is an expert in thin film sample growth and x-ray and neutron instrumentation. 


In 2013 (with a 4-year grant renewal in 2017), Dr Kreuzpaintner acquired the funding from the German Research Foundation (DFG) for the development and realization of in situ thin film growth capabilities for neutron reflectometry (in situ PNR). Besides his scientific activities, he managed the project with a team of ~5 people from 2014 until joining GTIIT in 2018. After reaching the major project goals, Dr Kreuzpaintner in 2018 also submitted his Habilitation thesis on in situ PNR and currently still supervises 3 PhD students at Technical University Munich. 


From 2015 to 2018, Dr Kreuzpaintner lectured the physics course “Vacuum, surfaces and thin films” at Technical University Munich.
