Dr. Christine Rehm joined the Guangdong Technion Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT) in October 2017 as Senior Research Associate. She is responsible for managing the research infrastructure in physics and materials science and for teaching lab classes. In her previous position at the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organization (ANSTO) Dr. Rehm was the lead scientist of the ultra-small-angle neutron scattering (USANS) instrument KOOKABURRA of the Australian Centre for Neutron Scattering. Her fields of expertise include thin film science (magnetic thin films, polarized neutron and X-ray reflectometry), characterization of microstructures by neutron and X-ray diffraction methods, as well as neutron scattering instrumentation (neutron optics, instrument simulation, neutron guides).
Dr. Rehm received her PhD in physics in 1999 from the Technical University Berlin, Germany, as research scientist of Hahn-Meitner Institute, where she investigated hydrogen-induced changes of structural and magnetic properties of metallic thin films. After her PhD, she joined the U.S. Spallation Neutron Source (SNS) project in Oak Ridge as a postdoc, where she worked on neutron instrumentation design and optimization by means of Monte Carlo simulations. Subsequently, her skills and expertise formed the base of her company American Scientific Instrumentation where she managed various neutron optics related projects, and distributed neutron optical components manufactured by the world-leading company SwissNeutronics within the US and China markets.
