Zhujiang Wang is an Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Robotics program and Research Center for Science & Engineering in Health and Medicine (SEHM) since December 2021. He received both his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Power Engineering and Engineering Thermophysics from Xi'an Jiaotong University and his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University (TAMU) in 2016. He worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of TAMU and software engineer at SimInsights (USA) to develop virtual reality labs for training engineering students in the U.S. Before joining GTIIT, he was a postdoctoral fellow at the Faculty of Health Sciences in Ontario Tech University, conducting interdisciplinary projects in healthcare. Dr. Wang has a very broad interest in solid mechanics and collaborated and led many interdisciplinary projects in healthcare, mechatronics, computer graphics, rapid prototyping technology, and virtual reality throughout his career.

At GTIIT, his research group focus on interdisciplinary projects in healthcare and the related fundamental scientific problems, including but not limited to (1) automatic lightweight lattice structure generation, with the applications in 3D printed footwear for diabetics, splints, prosthesis/orthotics, and bone scaffolds, etc. (2) material properties of rubber-like materials and bio-materials, (3) (virtual reality-based) surgical simulations, and (4) medical cyber-physical system for diabetics.
