Position Description:

Guangdong Technion Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT) is a new international research-focused university located in Guangdong Province, Southern China. The founding mission of GTIIT centres on creating a best-in-class international institute in China, by providing world class laboratory infrastructure, and using English as daily operational language. The Nanoparticle Technology Research Unit (Nanogram Lab) is currently being set up under the direction of Assoc Prof Panagiotis Grammatikopoulos (LinkedIn, Scholar). Nanoparticles are an exciting class of materials, given their enhanced surface area, size-dependent properties, and potential for biomedical and electronics applications. Research directions at our Unit include design & modelling of nanoparticles, nanoparticle fabrication using gas-phase synthesis, and integration of these nanoparticles into innovative technologies. In-house state-of-the-art facilities for nanoparticle and film fabrication and characterisation (TEM, XPS, XRD, AFM, etc.) enable cutting edge research.

The Nanogram Lab seeks to recruit a versatile, qualified Lab Manager to help set up and manage our new lab (>70 m²) and provide technical and computational support for the Unit’s complementary experimental and theoretical research.

The Unit is committed to that specific emphasis will be put on the personal and professional development of the successful candidate (both hard and soft skills), as well as their welfare and work/life balance.  

Duties and Responsibilities:

·       Focal point for lab (equipment/personnel) management and maintenance

·       Technical and computational support for researchers in the unit

·       Lab online presence manager/administrator

·       Lab health and safety officer

·       Lab administration support

·       Maintenance of a safe, healthy, and ethical academic environment within the Unit and the University.

Required Job Specifications:

·       University degree in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, or Engineering: Necessary; Master’s Degree: Advantageous

·       Required experience: Experience with technical and computational support at high-tech facilities. International experience highly advantageous. Research experience in Materials Science or related field also desirable.  

Required Job Competencies:     

·       Language ability: English language proficiency (written and oral) necessary, Chinese language desirable

·       Good communication skills

·       Competence with scientific software and scientific methodologies

·       Hands-on technical skills, problem solving attitude
