Overview
GTIIT aims to attract the best and most talented graduate students available, to drive the research conducted at GTIIT to greater horizons. GTIIT's faculty members are recruited globally, including people from the Technion. These individuals are required to play significant roles in education, research and innovation and exploit the synergy between them. The faculty is supposed to conduct research and to act as role models for students regarding research and innovation.
For graduate students, the research will be carried out mostly at the GTIIT campus in Shantou, China. The graduate students for both master and PhD degrees will be part of the Technion Graduate School. They will have to attend graduate classes and research facilities at the Technion campus in Haifa, generally one semester for a master and two for a PhD degree. The degrees will be awarded by Technion, Israel.

Degrees Awarded by Technion Graduate School (relevant to GTIIT)
MSc: Master of Science (with a thesis)
Studies towards a “Master of Science” degree (with a thesis) generally span two to three years, it gives student broad, high level knowledge of expertise in a specific field. The student is required to take classes based on a unique program and perform research, an engineering project or a final paper. The research or project for a master’s degree can be theoretical or experimental, focus on research of unique phenomena in pure or applied science, or can present a more practical approach in engineering design or manufacturing processes.
PhD: Doctor of Philosophy
Studies towards a PhD span three to four years, and generally require full time study at Technion/GTIIT. The students devote their time primarily to research, and participate in seminars on advanced matters and courses based on a personal study program. At the end of the first year of their studies, they are required to submit a short description of their research topic and pass the candidacy examination. In this examination, they must demonstrate their ability to perform independent and original research on the selected topic. In the last year of their studies, the students must present their work in a faculty-wide seminar, submit the paper on their research and pass the final exams held orally.
Minimum Entry Requirements
MSc
Individuals with a bachelor’s degree from an accredited academic institution in Israel or abroad, whose GPA is not lower than a 75 (or a parallel grade), may apply. Each department has the right to determine requirements that are greater than the minimum requirements. Applicants for an MSc degree in: Electrical Eng., Mechanical Eng., Physics, Chemistry, and Nanoscience and Nanotechnology are required to take the GRE (general exam). GRE code: 4213 Guangdong Technion Israel Institute of Technology (China)

PhD
Candidates with a master’s degree who studied at Technion or an accredited academic institution in Israel or abroad, whose average grades and the grade on the thesis paper are not lower than an 80, may apply. Each unit has the right to determine requirements that are greater than the minimum requirements. Graduates of non-research master’s degrees who wish to study towards a PhD may review the information appearing under Exploratory Research.

How to Apply
Step 1: Select your graduate program
Before you apply, it is important that you have looked into and are happy with research program that you want to apply for. You must ensure that you are aware of:
Step 2: Send your application documents to the faculty member that you are interested in
You will need to include the following documents with your application:
MSc Application
Official, signed Diplomas or confirmations of eligibility of former degrees (translated to English)
Official, signed transcripts (GPA included) of each of the degrees (translated to English)
Applicants who have not yet graduated will send the current transcript. Candidates who have completed their studies at Technion do not need to send it.
Ranking (relative place in class) from candidates who are not Technion graduates if available
Applicants for Master degree in the following programs should submit a GRE (general test) score: Chemistry and Physics
Applicants for MSc in Chemical Engineering is requested to provide two recommendations. Applicants for MSc in Materials Science and Engineering is requested to provide one recommendation.
PhD Application

Curriculum vitae and a short-written statement / declaration of intent
GRE (general exam) scores are required of applicants for PhD who studied outside Israel
Applicants for PhD are requested to provide two academic recommendations (one of which from the Master degree thesis advisor)
In addition:
Applicants who have studies toward their Master’s Degree in the Technion in the three years prior to applying are exempt from this requirement for all programs except Materials Science and Engineering.
Make sure all your documents are in English, and recommendation letters must bear the official letterhead of your referrer's workplace and his/her signature.

Step 3: Administrative and academic approval in GTIIT
Your application will be reviewed by the faculty member and GTIIT first. We will check whether you meet all requirements for registration. After checking all the material, your application will be discussed in GTIIT Graduate Studies Committee.
Step 4: Submit online application form and pay the application fee
After the approval of GTIIT Graduate Studies Committee, your application file will be transferred to Technion Graduate School (TGS). TGS will contact you to submit online application form and pay the application fee via the Graduate School website.
Step 5: Administrative and academic approval in Technion
TGS will check the application and send it to the faculty. The faculty will submit their recommendation to TGS.
Step 6: Admissions Decision
After the approval of TGS, the Graduate School will issue an official letter of acceptance.
