Position Description                                                                      

The Biotechnology and food engineering department at GTIIT is looking for a dedicated lab technician for managing the on-going tasks of 2 student labs in each semester. The lab experiments are focused on food biochemistry, food and pharmaceutical analysis and microbiology. The lab technician will work closely with the lab managers of these labs.

Duties and Responsibilities                                                                     

· Preparation of equipment, disposables and consumables to each lab per lab protocol;

· Responsibility for cleaning of dishes using specific protocols;

· Management of glassware, consumables and disposables inventory;

· Management of chemical waste disposal per local guidelines;

· Support lab managers: preparation of solutions, preparation of samples for analysis, etc;

· On-going maintenance and calibration of lab equipment;

· Purchase of equipment, glassware and disposables.

Required Job Specifications                                                                

· Language ability: Chinese and English;

· Academic degree: B.Sc. in Science or Engineering;

· Required experience: 1-2 years in a chemical lab (an advantage) .

Required Job Competencies                                                                

· High-level organization skills;

· Independent working skills;

· High awareness to general lab safety and demonstrated knowledge in chemical safety;

· Willingness to be trained and operate lab analytical instruments;

· Willingness to a long working day during the student lab (usually 1-2 days per week);

· Good knowledge of spoken and written English and communication skills;

· Striving for improving the quality of working environment.
