Molecular Electronics Forum in Nanao

The "Molecular Electronics Forum in Nanao" hosted by Guangdong Technion - Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT) and Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Materials and Technologies for Energy Conversion (MATEC) opened at GTIIT Auditorium.

The Forum lasted for 3 days. Around 80 experts and scholars from well-known universities (Peking University, Tsinghua University, University of Science and Technology of China, Zhejiang University, Nanjing University, Nankai University, Central South University, Xiamen University, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Tianjin University, Chongqing University, East China University of Science and Technology, South China University of Technology, China University of Geosciences, Shanghai Normal University, Zhejiang Normal University, Shandong Normal University, Yanshan University, Fuzhou University, Guangdong University of Technology, Guangdong Technion - Israel Institute of Technology) and research institutes (Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences; Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics; Fuzhou Institute of Matter, Chinese Academy of Sciences) were invited by Xie Zuoti, Associate Professor of GTIIT Materials Science and Engineering Program and colleagues to gather together to discuss the research frontiers and future development of molecular electronics.

Prof. Daniel Tan, Deputy Head of MSE and Director of MATEC was invited to give an opening speech. He said that molecular electronics is an emerging discipline with a high threshold, few entry points, and a high degree of challenge, which requires high-quality researchers with a good foundation. At present, China has a large talent pool with great potential. It is hoped that scholars can promote the development of the discipline through exchanges and interactions, and push China's molecular electronics to a higher level.

Prof. Guo Xuefeng from Peking University and Prof. Hong Wenjing from Xiamen University were the invited speakers for this forum. Prof. Guo Xuefeng started with a review of the history of monomolecular, analyzed the current international research situation in this field and pointed out the pros and cons of domestic research. He called on colleagues to build a communication platform to boost exchange and cooperation, as well as to establish a school of thought with international influence. Prof. Hong Wenjing focused on the breakthrough thinking in monomolecular electronics and put forward suggestions based on its development - to create basic research and innovation export, expand differentiated research directions, cultivate the rapid growth of the new generation of the field, and inject new forces into the development of monomolecular electronics.

Participating scholars exchanged ideas on the application and development of molecular electronics technology, as well as the innovative scientific research of this discipline in the fields of physical chemistry and nanoelectronics.

The experts and scholars were divided into two venues for academic reports in the afternoon. Single molecule electronic technology plays an important role in biological materials, electronic chips, organic electronics and other fields, and has great academic value in scientific research. Focusing on charge transport, electronic structure, supramolecular electronics, single-molecule multi-channel transport, photoelectric properties of single-molecule systems, non-planar molecular functional materials and other topics, participants presented their research progress and latest achievements from the aspects of research background, research content and methods, conclusions and prospects through several presentations.
