Abstract:
The China Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS) is a multidiscipline research platform with neutron scattering. The neutron scattering provides powerful research tool for material sciences and engineering, physics, chemistry, life sciences, energy and resource, environment, et al. The site of CSNS is Dongguan, Guangdong Province. The facility comprises an 80-MeV Linac, a 1.6 GeV proton rapid cycling synchrotron, a tungsten target station, and the experimental hall for 20 neutron spectrometers. The RCS provides a beam power of 100 kW on the target in the phase I. There are three initial spectrometers in the experimental hall: general purpose powder diffractometer, small angle neutron scattering meter and magnetic reflectometer. The construction of CSNS was finished last August on schedule. The first neuron beam obtained August 28, 2017. CSNS through the acceptance review organized by Chinese Academy of Sciences March 25,2018. It will be opened to users soon. The first paper of the user experiment was published. “Waterfront towers, the first to catch the moon.” CSNS provides scientists of GTIIT an unique opportunity for the neutron scattering research and applications. The seminar will introduce the neutron scattering, and report the construction and applications of CSNS.
