Youth at GTIIT: filled with vigor and full of dreams

PostTime:5/4/2020

Youth shines through tempering, and life is sublimated in striving.

Facing the sudden outbreak of COVID-19, GTIITers keep their mission firmly in mind and take responsibility in their generation.

They work hard, love their country and chase dreams with patriotism and self-confidence in heart.

They own the qualities of brave, kindness, selflessness and diligence.

It is Youth Day. Let's listen to students in Hubei

“I have lived a enriched life during the past 3 months ”

“I want to share how a Wuhan resident was taken good care of by his country during the pandemic.” Wang Caiwei, a student from Class of 2023, has made the most out of life during the past 3 months.“Thanks for our great country. We can remain at home at this special occasion.” Busy with online study from Mar. 5, she still completed her to-do lists during her spare time. “I finished an English book, practiced my French by listening to music and watching movies, improved cooking skills, did some housework and learned to solve Rubik’s Cube. When asked about expectation, she mentioned that, “I wish I can go back to GTIIT ASAP, clean my dorm, listen to the teachers in classrooms and have dinner with my roommates.”

"Thank you"

This “Labor Day” is the first holiday since the end of Wuhan lockdown. The whole city is recovering. Life and production were back to life.“My hometown is back”, said Liu Minwei, a student from Class of 2021. He was deeply moved that people from all walks of life contributed for Wuhan during the past 80 days. “I can still recall the day before the remote teaching was officially launched. I found no notebook at home so I ordered some online at around 8 PM. Surprisingly, the courier made the delivery in 20 minutes even if it was pouring outside...”“Throughout the threat, I profoundly appreciate the importance of knowledge. It’s by no means empty talk, but responsibility,” said Liu. He added that there are still many things for human being to learn and explore from pandemic, disaster and nature. Through hard work, Liu achieved good results in his recent exams. “We witness the spread of coronavirus and have a responsibility to fight against it.”

"Proud to Chinese"

Wang Yuqi, a student of Class 2021 from Shiyan, Hubei, said that daily trifles got  tricky due to the outbreak of COVID-19. “Many thanks to the nation-wide support.” He mentioned that although in the early days, there were few choices of vegetables in his community, his daily life could be guaranteed.”

Hubei has been restarted orderly with long-lost prosperity and vigor. Wang wanted to sincerely thank all those who had selflessly put their celebrations on hold. “Each building is equipped with two community workers going door-to-door collecting information of all the residents, which includes temperature, health condition and travelling history. They had conducted an eight-round survey to ensure potential transmission channels can be cut off.” Wang Yuqi was deeply moved by these well-qualified people from all works of life. “Solidarity is strength. From the Wenchuan earthquake 12 years ago to the coronavirus pandemic this year, we are all together. As a Chinese. I am so proud of it.”

“This is my schedule, FYI”

How to plan your days well when studying at home? Li Tingzhu, a student from Class of 2023, gave his answer.“ Studying at home, on the one hand, means I can arrange my time freely; on the other hand, this may result to procrastination and distraction.” Therefore, he worked out a personal learning plan and stuck to it, studying 8 hours a day. He also summed up his learning methods to adapt to the remote teaching: first, watch the online videos; second, read the textbooks and do the homework; third, summarize and review. How to be self-disciplined? Li Tingzhu joked, “It was weighing too heavily on my conscience that I haven’t finished my homework before bed.”During the past few months, he also helped classmates by explaining exercise through live streaming or sharing notes before each exam. Because of that, he was nicknamed “Mother Li” by peers.

Fire in heart

Lights in eyes

Let's joint hands to dedicate our youth to the development of the motherland
