    GTIIT is listed in the "Guangdong High Level University Development Program". Four disciplines, including Materials Science and Engineering, Food Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Environmental Engineering are listed as key disciplines.

    All main buildings on GTIIT North Campus had their roofs sealed, and construction of the west section of College North Road in GTIIT South Campus started on the same day.

    Deputy Secretary of the Shantou Municipal Committee, acting Mayor Liu Xiaotao signed with Technion the Agreement on Promoting the Establishment of Guangdong Technion - Israel Institute of Technology(GTIIT).

    A five-party meeting on the preparation for establishment was held jointly by Shantou Government, GTIIT(Prep.), STU, Technion, and LKSF.

    Vice Premier Liu Yandong expressed her appreciation for the preparation of GTIIT during her visit to Israel.

    LKSF donated 130 million USD as a catalyst for encouraging Technion to establish GTIIT in Shantou. Guangdong and Shantou governments committed a funding of 900 million RMB in support of GTIIT’s initial operations.
