On July 14, Guangdong Technion – Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT) held the seventh session of its third Board of Directors. The meeting approved the appointment of Academician Mao Junfa of the Chinese Academy of Sciences as GTIIT Chancellor and Member of GTIIT Board. A handover ceremony was held between former Acting Chancellor Liu Wenhua and Chancellor Mao Junfa. The meeting also reviewed and approved the newly-nominated board members.



Participants at the meeting included Uri Sivan, Chair of GTIIT Board; Hao Zhifeng, Vice-Chair of GTIIT Board; and other Board members Mao Junfa, Huang Huiyang, Tang Rui, Rafi Aviram, and Danny Raz.

The meeting reviewed and approved the minutes of the sixth session of the third Board of Directors, and heard updates on GTIIT's management team building, academic affairs, research, undergraduate teaching, graduate studies, campus construction, operations, the University's Office, human resources, procurement and fixed assets, the Education Foundation, student affairs, admissions, and communications.

The attending board members, leaders, and guests warmly welcomed Chancellor Mao Junfa and voiced high hopes for the university's future growth. As GTIIT stands at a pivotal moment for connotative advancement, the university—under Chancellor Mao's leadership—will double down on discipline building, talent training, and research innovation, ushering in a new phase of development and driving high-quality progress.
Other attendees included Peng Congen, Deputy Mayor of Shantou; Lin Jian, Second-Level Inspector of Shantou Government Office; Dr. Frieda Law, representative from the Li Ka Shing Foundation; GTIIT leadership members Eli Aljadeff, Moris Eisen, Rami Horesh, Queena Yi, and Gao Jian; Shantou government officials; Shantou University representatives; as well as faculty representatives and department heads of GTIIT.
