Ice-breaking activities for freshmen

PostTime:8/21/2026

Summer leaves and autumn comes; a new journey begins. Full of hopes for the future, new students from all around the country start their new lives at GTIIT.

It is normal to feel nervous and unfamiliar in a brand-new environment. To help the Class of 2026 make more friends and get used to the pre-semester schedule, the GTIIT Peer Mentor Team organized various ice-breaking activities.

Laughter echoed across the activity venues. Games including draw-and-guess, bridge-crossing challenges and card-flipping were well designed by peer mentors. These games tested memory, teamwork and strategy. Round after round, the games broke the ice, helping students grow more at ease with one another.

Snacks and drinks were prepared for each group. Between games, students sat together and talked about studies, hometowns and plans. They shared their fresh feelings here and built precious friendships.

Within just a few hours, strangers got connected. They were no longer unfamiliar names on a list, but partners who played and solved challenges side by side.

Peer Mentor Program

The Ice Breaking is one of the activities in the Peer Mentor Program, which has been implemented by GTIIT since 2018. The Program actively responds to various needs of freshmen in the admission stage through the experience and resources of outstanding senior students. Since its implementation, PMs have become a bridge between the university and freshmen, helping the freshmen to get through the adaptation period as soon as possible and integrate into college life smoothly, as well as gaining great recognition and support. At the same time, the Program helps in cultivating our students into well-rounded individuals. It greatly facilitates PMs' comprehensive abilities and extracurricular experience.
