As a young and energetic university, GTIIT has shown its great potentials in scientific research in just a few years. What are the latest achievements of GTIIT's research team? What is the progress of Industry-University-Research collaboration? This article will give you the answers.

Research achievements
Led by Nobel Laureates, GTIIT's faculty has strong research capabilities. Most of them have worked in world-class overseas universities or research institutions, and had rich experience in Industry-University-Research. International faculty members account for more than 90% of the faculty team. They are from Israel, the United States, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, Singapore, Netherlands, Germany, Finland, Denmark, Spain and other 24 countries or regions.

GTIIT's research team has received great achievements in the past few years. 415 papers have been published since 2017, more than 100 of which were published in authoritative journals with an impact factor greater than 5. After the research building was put into use at the end of 2019, the speed of GTIIT’s scientific research has been accelerated significantly. So far this year, 83 papers have been published by GTIIT’s faculty. At present, 49 projects are under research at GTIIT, including 6 projects with NSFC Grant Awarded.
Up to now, 17 teaching labs and 45 research labs have put into use, including Teaching Lab for Advanced Separations, Environmental Engineering, Analytical Chemistry Lab, Organic Chemistry Lab, Materials Science and Engineering Lab, Physics Lab, Biotechnology and Food Engineering Lab, Microbiology Engineering Lab, Bioreactors and Fermenters Lab, Sustainable Food Safety and Process Engineering Lab, The Life Sciences and Bio Engineering(LSBE) Core Facility, Green Catalysis and Energy Lab, The Lab for Advanced Tissue Technologies, etc.

Recently, GTIIT proudly announced the University's Research Information Management System(RIMS). It is now available at https://research.gtiit.edu.cn for everyone to admire GTIIT's top-notch research team and world-class research achievements.

The system is powered by Elsevier Pure, a proven and leading-edge system that moves GTIIT's research information into a single system with a long future, providing a centralized and integrated platform for managing each type of research activities, outputs, funding, and reporting within our University, as well as demonstrating GTIIT's research competency to the globe through the public portal.
The system has been adopted by many world top universities. The Israel Higher Education Computing Center will also implement the system in all Israeli universities.
Collaboration with industry and other units
GTIIT cultivates pioneering leaders and researchers with global vision and aims to become a world-class international university, conducting cutting-edge research in the fields of science and technology. GTIIT attaches great importance to Industry-University-Research collaboration, and creates many opportunities for students to apply what they have learned.

By now, GTIIT has signed more than 10 collaboration agreements with industry, with a total contract value of exceeding 10 million RMB, and also signed the student practice base agreement with 18 enterprises.
GTIIT is featured with innovation and entrepreneurship. Student patent fund has been set up to make innovative and entrepreneurial talents and achievements stand out. GTIIT attaches great importance to enhancing students’ awareness of innovation and intellectual property protection, as well as stimulating their creative innovation potential and entrepreneurial spirit. In 2020, a utility model patent on "soil heavy metal remediation device" was granted by the State Intellectual Property Office recently. It was the first national patent awarded to GTIIT. In 2020, GTIIT had its first patent granted by SIPO, and 13 patent applications are under review (including 9 international patents).

Patent Fund | 签订专利资助基金,助力学生创新创业发展

In terms of international collaboration, GTIIT and the Research Neutron Source, Forschungs-Neutronenquelle Heinz Maier-Leibnitz (FRM II) of Technical University of Munich (TUM), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on academic collaboration and exchanges in the Year 2020. Under this MOU, the two institutions aim to achieve a win-win situation in teaching and research through staff and students' exchange programs, joint research activities, etc.

GTIIT has also established/is establishing partnerships with top universities or labs in Israel, Belgium and Germany, such as the Technion, IMEC International, TUM, Jacobs University.
Where will we move to?
GTIIT is committed to promoting the integration of multi-disciplines in its teaching and research to better meet the needs of the ever-changing society.

In 2020, GTIIT successfully organized over 15 seminars and workshops, including computing science series seminars, Shantou Algebra series seminars, and many online academic webinars, which actively promoted interdisciplinary integration, cooperation, and exchange.
As for the new strategic academic organization plan, GTIIT is going to change the classical organization in which the department is responsible for both teaching and research to a new and innovative academic organization based on Core Education Center, Multidisciplinary Research Centers and Key Laboratories.
