Chaozhou embroidery is one of the famous embroideries in China. It has a long history. Chaozhou embroidery began in the Tang Dynasty and became well-known in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Some interesting allusions are circulated among the people, such as: needlecraft allusions, general dog head, aunt bird and so on. Chaozhou embroidery has a strong local style. It has full composition, various stitches, clear texture, gold and silver thread inlays, high supporting ground, strong color, and strong decorativeness.

The biggest feature of Chaozhou embroidery is technique. There are five major techniques of Chaozhou embroidery. Among them, the Dingjin embroidery is the most unique, that is, putting some cotton wool on the embroidery floor, the highest is more than one inch. Then embroider the gold velvet thread to make the embroidery look like a relief, rich in three-dimensional impression. This kind of embroidery is unique among the four famous embroidery.
