In order to enrich the extracurricular life and comprehensively improve the fitness of faculty and students, Guangdong Technion-Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT) has held a variety of sports activities. From the campus to the outside, from the stadium to the track, you can see GTers anywhere. They give full play to their potential in the arena, showing their youthful charm.

Football Match

Recently, “GT Got Spots” Tournament came to a successful conclusion. The team set-up for this year's competition was the same as the previous one, divided into a faculty team and a student team. The competition followed the rules of the 5-a-side football game. 

In the arena, the student team had tacit cooperation and obtained many opportunities in the frontcourt, which drew cheers from the audience. Facing the fierce attacks from the student team, the faculty team did not show any weakness and performed well. Both teams tried their best in the arena and the game was really exciting.

The level of players on both teams was comparable, and the score was closed. At the last moment, the student team scored a long shot to tie the score to 2:2 and the game entered the penalty kick stage. Unfortunately, the student team made frequent mistakes, and the faculty team won the final victory with the score of 2:0.

Basketball Match

In the faculty-student basketball match, the two teams also continued their passion in the football match and played a beautiful game. The student team showed great strength and scored five goals in a row to take the lead. 

Not to be outdone, the faculty team rushed to catch up. After achieving the goal of overtaking, they still actively rushed to grab the offensive rebounds to maintain the advantage. The faculty and students competed by serving, dribbling, passing, and tackling, pushing the game to a climax. In the end, the student team lost to the faculty team by a slight gap.

Badminton Match

Whether inside or outside the university, GTIIT students can always be found on the sports field. They find a perfect balance between busy study and physical exercise. 

In their spare time, those who love badminton teamed up to participate in the 2021 Total Energy-Li Ning Li Yongbo Cup 3V3 Badminton Tournament (college student team) hosted by the Guangdong Student Sports Art Federation.

In the competition, GTIIT students tried their best to win glory for the university and went through intensive competitions. In the end, the first team of GTIIT represented by seven students including Yu Zhuoyang and the second team of GTIIT represented by nine students including Zhang Yujie won fifth place in the mixed 3V3 team competition of Group A.

Athletic Competition

The 35th Shantou University Track and Field Games has just ended. GTIIT students took part in the 50-meter sprint, 100-meter sprint, high jump, long jump and other events. Chen Ziting from the cohort 2021 majoring in Material Science and Engineering program won third place in the women's high jump group.

In order to further promote sports ethics, enhance the physical qualities of teachers and students at GTIIT, and cultivate good habits of persisting in physical exercise, GTIIT established a Sports Unit, led by Dr. Fabian Rios, responsible for the organization of various sports events and courses. In 2022, GTIIT will continue to carry out various sports events and activities to make sports become popular on campus.
