At present, Guangdong Provincial Laboratory of Chemistry and Fine Chemicals are accelerating their development. Guangdong Technion - Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT) will seize the rare opportunity to fully participate in the construction of the provincial laboratory, and actively push forward the development of cooperation between enterprises, universities and research institutes.
On January 16th, the second board of Guangdong Provincial Laboratory of Chemistry and Fine Chemicals was formally established. Zeng Fengbao, Deputy Secretary of Shantou Municipal Party Committee and Mayor of Shantou Municipal Government, assumes the Chairman of the Board of Guangdong Laboratory of Chemistry and Fine Chemicals. Chen Xiaoming, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and professor of Sun Yat-sen University, is the second Director of the Laboratory. Gao Song, Chancellor of Sun Yat-sen University and Academician of CAS, shoulders the Director of the Academic Committee of the Laboratory. Gong Xingao, Chancellor of GTIIT and Academician of CAS, serves as the Vice Chairman of the Board. Lin Danming, Pro-Vice Chancellor of GTIIT, is the board member.
Guangdong Laboratory of Chemistry and Fine Chemicals is the only core provincial laboratory for chemical industry constructed by CPC Guangdong provincial committee and the provincial government. In the matchmaking event section, academicians and experts from well-known universities, including Guangdong Technion - Israel institute of technology, Sun Yat-sen University, South China University of Technology and Shantou University, proposed suggestions for enterprises, from the aspects of, the transformation of sci-tech achievements, talent attraction, communication and cooperation between institutes and enterprises, etc..
Prof. Gong Xingao, Chancellor GTIIT and Academician of CAS, said, "The strategy positioning and development route are based on the current development of Shantou. The three fields involved in the ‘Three New’ strategy, which are new energy, new materials, the new generation of electronic information technology, can only stand firmly in the domestic and overseas markets with a strong scientific and technological support. Shantou University and Guangdong Technion - Israel Institute of Technology, as well as Guangdong Provincial Laboratory of Chemistry and Fine Chemicals, will actively promote the development of Shantou."
Scientific innovations contribute to industrial improvements. As a research university in science and technology, GTIIT, which owns world-class teaching and research teams, has prevailing attention on basic research, the transformation of sci-tech achievements, the university-enterprise collaboration, and on the integration of manufacturing, education and research. For example, we have launched matchmaking events, set up targeted practice base and held training of talents in fine chemicals. GTIIT will deepen the collaboration with enterprises and research institutes and promote the application of research outcomes to provide strong support for industrial advances in Shantou and even Guangdong province.
