On April 1, GTIIT signed the “5G Smart University” Innovative Collaboration Framework Agreement with China Mobile(Shantou), signifying a closer and more concrete collaborative relationship between the two sides in an effort to build an international "Cloud+AI" smart campus, to accelerate industry-university-research collaboration, and to build a solid platform for gathering high-level talent and advanced scientific research. Prof. Danming LIN (Pro-Vice Chancellor of GTIIT); Mr. Eran Gal-Or (Pro-Vice Chancellor and Director General of GTIIT); General Manager of China Mobile (Shantou); Deputy General Manager of China Mobile (Shantou) and other guests attended the signing ceremony.
Along with the signing ceremony, GTIIT held the inauguration ceremony for the cross-campus network that connects to the north campus, the south campus and Shantou University. The ubiquitous intelligent computing network will be deployed in GTIIT’s south campus, which has attracted much public attention and will be put into operation successively this year, empowering seamless interconnection and resource sharing between the two campuses.
According to the agreement, GTIIT and China Mobile (Shantou) will carry out cooperation in four areas: IT infrastructure, Teaching and Learning, Campus Co-construction and Digital Experience. China Mobile (Shantou) will build a networked, digital, personalized and ubiquitous IT infrastructure towards GTIIT’s smart campus network, and provide secure and efficient cloud data center services.
Pro-Vice Chancellor Lin Danming said that GTIIT is committed to entrepreneurship, innovative education, cultivating pioneering leaders and researchers, being close to the industrial clusters of artificial intelligence and digital economy, and serving the transformation and upgrading of the local economy. He expressed that GTIIT and China Mobile (Shantou) can give full play to their leading advantages in their respective fields, jointly build a new driving force for innovation and development, serve the high-quality development of Shantou, and work with HUAWEI and other partners to shape GTIIT into an international high-level talent gathering highland and an indispensable platform for scientific research and innovation.
Mr. Li Yongqiang, General Manager of China Mobile (Shantou) said that GTIIT’s development is very promising and both sides have a good cooperative relationship. He added that today’s signing would mark the formation of a closer "innovative cooperation community". Next, the two sides will jointly carry out talents training programs in advanced disciplines such as 5G, and promote the integration between research, education and industry through various cooperation methods such as practical activities, subject research and laboratory construction. At the same time, China Mobile will leverage 5G+8K/VR new media technology to empower GTIIT’s "Cloud+AI" smart campus.
