Wen Zhanbin led a team to send greetings to all faculty and staff for the Teachers' Day

On behalf of the Shantou Municipal Party Committee and Shantou Municipal Government, Wen Zhanbin, Party Secretary of Shantou, led a team to send greetings to all faculty and staff for the upcoming 38th Teachers' Day. He expressed his earnestness to support the construction and development of Shantou University (STU) and Guangdong - Technion Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT).

Prof. Jiang Hong, Party Secretary of STU; Prof. Hao Zhifeng, President of STU and Prof. Lin Danming, Pro-Vice Chancellor of GTIIT, as well as staff representatives attended the meeting, reporting the university's operation and recent focuses.

Wen Zhanbin affirmed GTIIT's achievements in talent cultivation, discipline construction, research innovation and industry-university-research cooperation, and hoped that the university could deepen cooperation with local community, give full play to the role as a bridge between China and Israel, introduce advance technology of Israel, and provide intellectual support for Shantou's economic and social development.

Shantou would make every effort to build a regional education highland following the plan of the 12th Municipal Party Congress according to General Secretary Xi Jinping's instruction. GTIIT and STU, as the two universities in Shantou, would better implement the Party's education policy, said Wen Zhanbin.


He stressed the importance of faculty training and innovative education in improving the overall quality of university, and stated the requirements for the university: deepen the cooperation between the university and the city; take the advantages of talents, disciplines and scientific research to promote the integration of industry, education and research; provide intellectual support to contribute to Shantou's strategy of "Establish the City with Industry, Strengthen the City with Industry"; implement various measures for epidemic prevention and control on campus; and conduct regular investigations of campus safety hazards to safeguard the teachers and students' lives and property. He said that he would continue to support the running and development of STU and GTIIT, and help to coordinate and solve the difficulties to better promote the high-quality development of local higher education.
