It's been the first spring festival since the country's downgraded COVID-19 response measures. All departments have played their due roles to ensure the stable operation of the university with the coordination of GTIIT epidemic prevention and control leading group. Their efforts have built a strong line against the virus for a healthy and safe new year.

GTIIT has strengthened local coordination as well as a scientific and efficient emergency response to safeguard the campus.

We support GT's decision and appreciate the effective control measures taken by the university. My son chose to stay on campus. Even though he is a local student, he feels safe and comfortable staying there because of the learning atmosphere. ——Parents of Wu (cohort 2022)

The Clinic has prepared necessary materials, including testing kits, thermometers, protective suits, N95 masks and medicinal alcohol in response to COVID-19 situations. Staff in important positions are equipped with N95 masks, protective suits, and disinfectants. For teachers and students in need, consultation services and medicine are provided accordingly.

In the days of the peak of the winter COVID wave, the Clinic has opened the service window to reduce the risk of cross-infection and aggregation of infection, provided necessary medical devices such as pulse oximeter, set up WeChat groups for quarantine students for online consultations, and strengthen professional collaboration with off-campus medical services.

Recently, the clinics of Tuojiang Community came to GTIIT to inoculate teachers and students with the third and fourth doses. In accordance with the principles of informed, consent and voluntariness, those who have not completed the vaccination without contraindications were guided to complete the vaccination, in order to establish a good immune barrier.

Caring Protection

GTIIT exercises the administration of COVID prevention and control at different levels in an informatization manner and gives live updates. For people with a positive coronavirus test or found to be in close contact with any positive case, the university provides shelters and daily services including protective materials, medication guidelines, nutritious meals, and disinfectants.

The facilities of the shelters in South Campus are comprehensive. I also got my supplies when I checked in. It is reasonable to have both online and offline teaching. In this way, I could participate in offline sessions and discuss with teachers after class. Even if I was in quarantine later, I could participate in online sessions and not miss the course. ——Wang (cohort 2020) 

The menu is carefully arranged with a focus on balanced nutrition, light and easy-to-digest foods, as well as adequate protein supplements. Set menus are designed for students to order and white porridge with brown sugar ginger tea is provided. Meals are packed in insulated boxes and delivered to the isolation area, which has microwave ovens for heating at any time.

To improve GTers' wellness, GTIIT has set up targeted physical and mental healthcare services to tackle faculty and students' needs. Soliciting and submitting the GTers' suggestions and advice through various forms and channels, the university endeavor to communicate, responsd and solve all enquires point to point. 

During the stressful situation of COVID-19, I could continue to study without worries because GTIIT has made appropriate prevention and control measures while providing relief to students from various aspects, adjusting courses in a timely manner, and ensuring an orderly teaching and learning environment. ——Zhong (cohort 2019) 

Cheer GTers on Finals
All departments are working together to maintain normal teaching and learning conditions for students. From 19 December 2022, the course schedule has continued as normal: all classes are synchronised online and offline, with teachers teaching in the classrooms. All lessons are recorded for students to review after class.

There is a voluntary choice for students to stay on campus or learn online. To ensure that every student could take examinations, three offline finals have been arranged for each subject at different times for students to choose from. 

The arrangements are excellent – they ensure that teaching is not disrupted and also allow students to choose from hybrid teaching modes. My son went back home during the peak period and returned to campus ten days later with more efficient learning. Orange symbolizes energy, vitality, warmth and good health. An orange give-out activity was held in front of the canteen gate to cheer GTers on their finals.

We appreciate the hybrid learning modes provided by GT. These measures ensure the rights and needs of students who voluntarily stay on campus, as well as their emotions and learning environment. It is a benefit to our students that our school can individualize their needs according to different circumstances. ——Parents of Lin (cohort 2022)

Living in GTIIT is accompanied with warmth. During the Chinese New Year, the university organised a series of festive activities such as lion dances, couplets writing and New Year's Eve dinner for teachers and students staying in campus.
