Today, the Class of 2027 freshmen of Guangdong Technion – Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT) arrived on campus and completed their registration. The vibrant summer welcome a fresh batch of students from every corner of the country, united in their pursuit of dreams. Together, they will script a remarkable journey titled “Dream”.
"Welcome, New GTer!"

Early this morning, a group of enthusiastic student volunteers had waited at the local airport and railway station. Holding up signs that read “Guangdong Technion – Israel Institute of Technology”, they warmly greeted the arriving students and their families and helped them with the luggage and arranging transportation.

PVC Lin arrived at the South Campus to oversee the registration process for the new students. He took the time to have in-depth conversations with the freshmen, their parents, and the dedicated student volunteers.

"Welcome to GTIIT!" At the registration site, a team of over 60 senior student volunteers had been eagerly awaiting the arrival of the new students. With the organized guidance and patient assistant, freshmen and their parents smoothly went through various processes, including the registration, collecting packages and uniforms, and settling into their dorms, completing the entire check-in process in a convenient "one-stop" manner.

New Campus, New Journey

The annual welcoming event is always a significant moment for all GTers. This year is particularly special as the Class of 2027 marks the first cohort to reside in the South Campus, enjoying its modern facilities. Vibrant decorations, interactive welcome boards, and the inspiring motto “Dream it, do it” adorn the campus, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere to wholeheartedly welcome our new blood.

Upon enrollment, the incoming students will commence a comprehensive preparatory course spanning nearly two months. This program encompasses a range of subjects, including study techniques, English, mathematics, physics and chemistry, all of which will be taught exclusively in English. Through rigorous training in specialized English terminology, language proficiency, and a thorough review of scientific concepts, the aim is to facilitate a seamless transition for the students into the instructional framework of the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology. This will equip them with the necessary skills to effectively communicate and study.
"Learn hard, play harder" is a distinctive feature of GTers. In addition to the enriching preparatory semester, the 2023 cohort will also indulge in a series culinary delights and cultural experiences. "GTIIT Chaoshan Food Week" brings over 30 local delicacies, including braised goose and oyster omelette. Moreover, the "Freshmen City Walk in Shantou 2023", initiated by the Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports of Shantou Municipality, invites all GTIIT freshmen to explore Shantou for free.

Family-University Cooperation
On the registration day, a parents' meeting was held, to guide the parents understand their children's university journey, strengthen the concept of home-university co-education, and foster students’ overall growth. PVC Lin, as well as the heads of undergraduate programs and administrative departments participated in the meeting, talking about the learning arrangement, daily life, and career development with parents, with a shared goal of creating a supportive environment for the students.
