From September 8 to 10, the fifth meeting of the Nan'ao Science Conference on the topic of “Applications of High-efficiency Integration of Optoelectronics”, hosted by Guangdong Provincial Department of Science and Technology and Shantou Municipal Government, and organized by the Guangdong Basic and Applied Basic Research Fund Committee and Guangdong Technion - Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT), was held in Nan'ao Island.
More than 30 experts and scholars from universities and scientific research institutions, including Chinese Academy of Science (CAS) academicians Xing Dingyu, Zhu Shiyao, Lin Haiqing and Wang Yupeng, came to Nan'ao and conducted discussions on the fields of optoelectronic technology. CAS academicians Chang Kai, Zhu Shining; deputy director of Guangdong Provincial Department of Science and Technology Wu Shiwen as well as some experts joined the meeting online.
Wu introduced the development of the Nan'ao Science Conference, and praised the Shantou Municipal Government, the Guangdong Basic and Applied Basic Research Fund Committee and GTIIT for their long-term support for the conference. He said that the Nan'ao Science Conference has established a platform for high-level communication among domestic academic field. The brand effect of the conference has initially emerged, further enhancing Shantou's visibility in the science and technology community, and providing strong intellectual support for Shantou to build a national innovative city and a regional innovation centre.
In February, the Nan'ao Science Conference was launched. In the past eight months, it has held five high-level academic conference focusing on the field of basic research, including university discipline construction, basic research, basic research centre construction, key technology of infrastructure projects, quantum materials and manipulation, high-efficiency integration of optoelectronics, etc. The five sessions totally attracted more than 220 experts and scholars, including 46 academicians, to this beautiful island.
