This June marks the 23rd National Safe Production Month. In order to enhance the safety awareness and emergency response capabilities of students and staff, the Office of Campus Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) at Guangdong Technion - Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT) organized a consultation event on Safety Production Month on June 14th at the Research Building in the North Campus.

Prof. Lin Danming, Pro-Vice Chancellor of GTIIT, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony. He emphasized the importance of laboratory safety for all students and staff. "Safety starts with me and you. We shall integrate safety knowledge into every aspect of our lives. Let's work together to promote safety awareness and emergency response capabilities, ensuring a safe and harmonious campus environment at GTIIT."

Samuel Xu, Officer from GTIIT EHS introduced the event schedule and conveyed the requirements for safe production. "This is the fifth Safety Production Month event held by GTIIT since the laboratories were put into operation. Safety is everyone's responsibility and an essential component in life. We must pay attention to details, learn basic emergency skills, and understand how to effectively address the risks."

At the mezzanine of the Research Building, experts from the First Affiliated Hospital of Shantou University Medical College provided on-site consultations and training on first aid skills. Under the guidance of professionals, participants had hands-on practice in airway obstruction rescue, CPR, and the use of defibrillators.

A simulated powder explosion demonstration was conducted to raise participants' awareness of the conditions and dangers of dust explosions. After watching it, a master student Luo commented, "I usually conduct scientific research in the laboratory, where many safety-related details are worth paying attention to. This demonstration made me realize the potential risks during experiments and taught me how to implement safety measures in detail to ensure the smooth progress of experiments."

The event also shared information of ascend operation standards, fire fighting, personal protective equipment, safety posters, safety devices, and the operation standards of certain experimental instruments, which helped GTIIT students and staff further enhance their safety awareness and keep the concept of "safety first" in mind.
