As the vibrant summer days gracefully transition into the crisp autumn air, the summer vacation has now drawn to a close. The fulfilling vacation of GTers is filled with reading, traveling, charity acts, and scientific research. Let’s follow their footsteps and feel the boundless energy in the colorful summer vacation.
Engage in Public Welfare
This summer, the Youth League Committee of Guangdong Technion – Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT) collaborated with Xinjing Subdistrict, holding a social practice activity to develop children's intelligence.
This activity was divided into two core sections: “Psychological Mini-Class” and “Young Inventors.” Students from GTIIT brought primary school students in Xinjing Subdistrict with an extraordinary educational experience. Diverse teaching activities further enhanced children’s awareness of mental health and sparked their interest in scientific exploration.

This summer, I volunteered with my mother at the Century Amber Museum. After professional training, we enthusiastically introduced the characteristics of insect amber to visitors, intruding its formation and aesthetic value. Despite the hot weather, I felt quite joyful being a part of it.

This summer holiday, I volunteered at the First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui University of Chinese Medicine. This experience is very meaningful. It taught me how to teach elders to use new machines, which made me feel fulfilled and happy.

This summer, I came to the Micro-Electro-Mechanical System laboratory for an internship, working on a project to develop a breathing sensor using interdigital electrode coating. This is my first interdisciplinary project and also my first time conducting a research topic independently. The skills I learned at GTIIT and guidance from senior students helped me deal with the interdisciplinary challenges.
During the two-month internship, I learned to use many devices, such as impedance analysers. I gained knowledge in designing circuits and writing test programs, which are not covered in my undergraduate major. I was also able to independently collect, process and analyse the data from the sensors I made, and used the knowledge I learned at GTIIT to prepare and coat conductive polymer films.
This internship made me realize that in today’s era of fine-grained technological development, many technologies, especially those with application-oriented outcomes, require the collaboration of multidisciplinary knowledge. Therefore, interdisciplinary integrated research is both necessary and promising. During the research, I need to continuously learn new knowledge and collaborate with students from different academic backgrounds to finally complete the project.

This summer, I took part in the summer research program, working on the topic of synthesizing dual-fluorescent core-shell structured materials. In this project, I not only learned many experimental techniques and operational standards but also deeply experienced the challenges and joys of scientific research.
Through discussions with my mentor and peers, I found that scientific research is not a solitary exploration but a process of collective brainstorming. Each collision of ideas sparks new thoughts and innovations, deepening my passion for research.

After the exam, at the invitation of Professor Yigal, I chose to join an experimental group that I was interested in— the tea waste (ionic liquid) treatment group. The work in this research group was busy, and sometimes I worked from 8:30 AM until 10:00 PM. Eventually, I became quite proficient with some common instruments, and my work efficiency improved. I also accumulated certain experimental experience after spending about 30 to 40 hours in the lab over the summer.
Taking advantage of the lighter coursework during the summer, we organized two GT Talk events (activities of the GT Innovation Club). Although it wasn’t my first time organizing such talks, the events offered me new experiences. I was in full charge of the work flow: writing a planning document, organizing refreshments, conducting a boot camp to teach new speakers how to choose topics, research, and create PowerPoints for presentation, reviewing their work, promoting the events extensively from multiple angles, hosting the event in front of over 100 attendees, writing summary documents, and filling out reimbursement forms.
Both GT Talk events were unprecedentedly successful! With over 100 participants at the first event and vibrant Q&A sessions amid lively atmosphere, we, the organizers, were greatly encouraged! Organizing GT Talk undoubtedly enhanced my organizational skills, and I learned a lot from the experience!

Since the 21st century, yachts have quietly entered the vision of the Chinese public, and quickly completed the transformation from the "feast" of the rich to the "darling" of the middle class, and then to the carrier of ordinary people's leisure vacation, party entertainment, and physical fitness. In order to legally drive a yacht, I decided to study for a yacht driver's license and enrich my summer vacation.
Yacht driving test is divided into two parts: theory test and practical test. I attended the training courses diligently and successfully passed the tests.

During the summer, I took part in a go-kart race with a team of seven, featuring a track with six corners and five straight sections. In this exhilarating race, I achieved second place, with an average speed of 49.7 kilometres per hour throughout the entire course, breaking my personal go-kart record and clocking the fastest lap time of 35.7 seconds. Go-karting is what I really love. I make many friends out of it, and it enriches my life.
Travel around World

During summer vacation, I came to the famous "3D city" - mountain city Chongqing. At night, through the Qiansimen Bridge to cross the Jialing River, I arrived at the Bell Tower Square, where the tall and magnificent Raffles stands opposite. This is a city built in the mountains, and its magnificent night scenery is everywhere to bring unprecedented shock to tourists who come from afar. With myself in the foreground, I took this photo to capture this magnificent landscape.
In addition, I also went to Chengdu, “the land of abundance", and visited the Twin Towers there. It looks like a pair of chopsticks, and the circular overpass below it flows like a cauldron of hot pot. Such a perfect architectural combination with the beautiful display screen fully shows the traditional Chinese food culture in a way full of sense of science and technology. With great shooting angle, I recorded the scene filled with urban vibes and artistic beauty.

Qinling is one of the most significant geographical divisions in China. After Gaokao, I was able to set foot in this sacred land. Qinling, located in the south-central part of Shaanxi Province, is regarded as the north-south dividing line of China. Thanks to its unique location conditions, this region boasts an especially rich biodiversity.
This image was captured within the Qinling Foping National Nature Reserve. Shot with a macro lens, it showcases a spiderweb after rainfall and encapsulates the raw beauty of nature. Beautiful moments like this deserve to be recorded and saved.
Another photograph was taken at the tomb of Cai Lun in Yang County, located at the southern foot of the Qinlin Mountains. The subject, a juvenile crested ibis, is in the Chinese First-class National Protected Animals list. Unlike other birds, this young ibis showed curiosity in humans. Photographing birds in nature is a test of patience and perseverance, and our academic journey at GTIIT also requires this spirit.

I went on a graduation trip with my high school classmates in July this year. We chose to start climbing the Golden Summit of Mount Emei from 4 am. Although we didn't see the beautiful sunrise due to the thick clouds, we were all very happy. What matters is not the outcome of the journey, but the tourism itself and the people who we travel with.
I also visited Quanzhou, Fujian with my family this vacation. We experienced the culture of Xunpu hairpin flowers. Wearing flower in hair, I felt that we all have different beauties at different ages.

During the trip in Chengdu, I noticed a basketball hoop in a store and tried touching the rim. It's my dream to dunk once in my life.
This picture was taken when I visited Xijiang Miao Village in Guizhou with my family. We were amazed at the awesome scenery there. The Ming Great Wall is also worth visiting, with its long history and the stairs being quite steep.

The first image shows the pyramids of Giza in Cairo, Egypt. Human beings are very small in front of the majestic pyramids, which cannot help but make people marvel at the superb level of ancient Egyptian architecture.
The second image is the Sphinx in the Egyptian Museum. Its majesty represents courage and wisdom. Many artifacts are stored in this museum, including the gold mask of Tut Hamon and the mummies of his family.
The third picture is a view of downtown Cairo from above the city walls. The cultural architecture and dilapidated residential buildings appear together to show that Cairo is rich in culture but underdeveloped in economy.

This holiday, I experienced my first visit to the Tiananmen Square to watch the flag-raising ceremony. The sunrise that day was particularly beautiful. We also enjoyed the sunset at the Summer Palace, making it a very memorable experience.
Due to space constraints, we are unable to showcase all the submissions from students. Welcome to leave your summer memories in the comments section, and complete this wonderful summer album that belongs to the GTers!
