Recently, Guangdong Technion - Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT) held a symposium on "Implementing the Strategy of Developing a Strong Education in the New Era and Comprehensively Improving Talent Cultivation". Representatives from multiple renowned universities across the country gathered in Nan'ao, sharing their educational and teaching practices, contributing to the high-quality development of education in the new era.
Gong Xingao, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chancellor of GTIIT, attended the symposium and delivered a speech. He pointed out that under the national development strategy of integrating education, science and technology, and talent, the demand for independent cultivation of innovative talents has become increasingly urgent. He hoped through this symposium, educational scholars could engage in in-depth exchanges and jointly explore beneficial ideas and practices of higher education, continuously improving the quality of independent talent cultivation.
The event was chaired by Lin Danming, Pro-Vice Chancellor of GTIIT. During the conference, several university representatives delivered keynote speeches, sharing advanced educational concepts and innovative work experiences. The attendees expanded multi-dimensional thinking around topics such as the allocation of educational resources and the integration of scientific research and teaching.
Lu Yi, Deputy Director of Institute of Higher Education at Fudan University, noted that factors such as learning motivation and high school teaching models influence talent growth, which came from her survey of top students from China's leading universities. She also shared insights on the effectiveness and challenges of selecting outstanding innovative talents.
Miao Yuan, Director of Academic Affairs at ShanghaiTech University, introduced the university's development history and educational characteristics, particularly sharing its explorations in talent cultivation, discipline construction, and international exchange.
Mao Yaqing, Party Secretary and Vice President of Beijing Normal University-Hong Kong Baptist University United International College, stated that the university will continue to adhere to its internationalized educational features, taking innovative talent cultivation as the foundation, to provide more important intellectual support for the economic development of the country and the region.
Wang Manli, Deputy Director of Department of Academic Affairs at Shenzhen MSU-BIT University, said the university has become a flagship project for Sino-Russian cultural cooperation in the context of educational openness. She shared experiences and challenges in cultivating high-level talents and building a Sino-Russian collaborative talent cultivation community.
Chen Heng, Assistant to the President of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, shared the university's highlight practices under the theme "A Decade-long Experience in Cultivating International Talents", providing experiences for comprehensive higher education reform.
Yang Yang, Associate Vice President of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou), shared the university's unique educational ideas, showcased its experimental teaching practices to stimulate undergraduates' learning interests, and emphasized that helping students find themselves is essential in university education.
Tao Liang, Dean of Research at GTIIT, introduced the university's measures and effectiveness in innovative talent cultivation, emphasizing its strict implementation of academic requirements and teaching methods from the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology. He also shared the problem-driven teaching method at GTIIT and how GTIIT integrates international vision and enterprise practice into innovative cultivation.
This symposium is a successful practice for deepening exchanges among domestic universities, providing new ideas for cultivating talents that better meet the national strategic needs.
