Recently, Prof. Gong Xingao, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chancellor of Guangdong Technion - Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT), was invited to give a keynote lecture titled "Thinking and Exploration of Innovative Talents' Cultivation under High-quality Development Requirements", to all the teachers of GTIIT Affiliated School, stimulating the teachers' enthusiasm and contemplation about innovative education.
During the lecture, Chancellor Gong, from the perspectives of both a scientist and an educator, introduced the development direction of high-quality education and the cultivation of innovative talents. He pointed out that Technion - Israel Institute of Technology, established with innovative genes as the core of growth, has sent a large number of key talents to Israel's fields of aeronautical science and technology, microelectronics, medicine, computers, and modern agriculture, etc., and that 70% of people engaged in high technology in Israel came from the Technion.
Can the successful model of talent cultivation from Technion be replicated? As Prof. Gong Xingao mentioned, under the innovative talent cultivation model of GTIIT, students' academic abilities have been comprehensively improved and widely recognized by scientific research institutions around the world.
After the lecture, the teachers from GTIIT Affiliated School actively raised questions to Chancellor Gong. Chancellor Gong also provided valuable suggestions on how to build a high-level faculty team. He noted that as inheritors and innovators of education, teachers need to keep learning and moving forward, so as to shoulder the responsibility of cultivating innovative talents. He encouraged all teachers to maintain curiosity and a spirit of exploration, and to consistently pursue excellence in teaching and scientific research.
