Recently, the 2024 campus emergency and safety evacuation drill was held at the South Campus of Guangdong Technion - Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT). Through safety lectures, emergency evacuation drills and firefighting equipment practice, this activity aims to enhance the safety awareness of GTIIT students and improve their self-rescue and mutual-rescue abilities in dealing with accidents.
Prof. Lin Danming, Pro-Vice Chancellor of GTIIT, said in the speech that a safe environment was the foundation for learning, and emphasized the importance of fire safety as a critical part of the students' education. "Campus, lab, and dormitory safety are especially crucial at such a science and engineering university. I hope everyone put safety as the top priority, engage actively in the drill, and let safety awareness guide your university life."
Commander Zheng from the Shantou Fire Rescue Brigade provided a detailed lecture on fire safety. He used vivid examples to teach students about fire prevention, emergency evacuation, and self-rescue techniques focusing on electricity safety in dormitories and safety norms for shared kitchens. Interactive Q&A sessions further reinforced their learning.

During the drill, the students quickly and orderly evacuated to the designated assembly points upon hearing the fire alarm. Fire rescue professionals demonstrated the correct use of fire extinguishers and gas masks, guiding students through hands-on practice. The drill also included a simulated smoke-filled tunnel where students could apply the fire safety knowledge they had learned to escape.
