On the evening of January 4th, Guangdong Technion – Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT) successfully held the GT Night New Year's Party. Students and faculty from different countries gathered to welcome 2025. Music, dance, drama, magic, and more—students expressed their passion through various performances, lighting up the campus with artistic energy this winter.
As the stage lights shined bright, the evening began with a captivating band performance. Familiar tunes like "Counting Stars" filled the air, with musicians playing with full enthusiasm. The audience waved glow sticks with the melody, creating a lively atmosphere.
It is worth mentioning that an exchange student from the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology performed with GTIIT students, bridging the cultural gap through music and winning cheers from the audience.
Performances showing the traditional Chinese culture amazed everyone, including the Chinese dance "The Ode to the Goddess of the Luo River" and the Chinese music ensemble "The Orchid Pavilion". The dancer's graceful movements captured the powerful spirit of Chinese dance, while the interplay of guzheng and flute echoed with a thousand-year-old resonance, leaving the audience a lasting impression. The performance not only provided a romantic experience for the audience but also beautifully conveyed the uniqueness of Chinese traditional culture in this international campus.
Boom! A thunderous sound marked the start of Cao Yu's play "The Thunderstorm". The performing students fully immersed themselves in their roles, captivating the audience, as if they were transported through time with the play.
Beyond the usual singing, dancing, and instrumental performance, new forms like cosplays, impersonations, skits, and stage magic made their debut this year. The event was unprecedented, with a greater number of audience, upgraded stage facilities, and more performers than before.
Chen Zhaolin from the street dance club shared excitedly, "It was amazing to see how much the crowd loved our street dance performance! The brand-new venue and facilities made our performance even better and everyone seemed to enjoy it. We will continue to work hard!"
Xiao Feiyang, who played the role of Lu Shiping in "The Thunderstorm", shared, "To interpret this classic, our cast delved deeply into every gesture and each line. The audience's laughter, tears and applause meant a lot to us. In this New Year, may everyone, like the characters in the play, remain hopeful despite hardships, and have a happy and prosperous year!"
The 2025 GT Night New Year's Party ended with cheers and screams. GTIIT students stepped into the new year with full of vigor, ready to take 2025 to a new level.
