Li Jian'ge, Chancellor of GTIIT, met with Fang Lixu, Secretary of the CPC Shantou Municipal Committee in Shantou Yingbin Hotel and had an in-depth discussion on promoting university-city integration, deepening Sino-Israeli innovative development and fueling GTIIT development.
As Fang quoted, President Xi Jinping pointed out that development is the top priority, talents are the top resources and innovation is the greatest engine when Xi talked with Guangdong Delegation at the first annual session of the 13th National People's Congress." Shantou University (STU) and Guangdong Technion-Israel Institute and Technology (GTIIT) greatly help Shantou to implement President Xi Jinping's guidance in his speech and innovative development. Shantou is proud of the two universities," remarked Fang, "We would grab the opportunity of establishing Guangdong Provincial Laboratory in Shantou and promote greater cooperation with STU and GTIIT, for example, sharing experimental apparatus, so that scientific research results and high-end talents can meet their full potential." Fang expressed his hope that GTIIT would quicken its development, including enlarging recruitment scale, optimizing undergraduate programs and upholding its edges. In this way, GTIIT can back up the civil advancement and economic development in Shantou. To achieve win-win results and integration, Fang stressed, Shantou Party Committee and Shantou Government will give STU and GTIIT full support for development. With the supportive conditions provided by China-Israel (Shantou) Sci-tech Innovation Cooperation Zone, Shantou would introduce advanced Israeli technology in areas like aviation, food and chemical engineering, by which Shantou could adopt the Israeli invention and fasten the paces of translating innovative ideas into industrial benefits. Ultimately, Shantou could achieve innovative development and overtake counterparts.
Chancellor Li thanked the constant support for GTIIT from Shantou Party Committee and Shantou Government. Li said, we will accelerate the development of GTIIT and optimize the undergraduate programs. While further integrating into the local, GTIIT would spare no efforts in assisting the enhancement of China-Israel (Shantou) Sci-tech Innovation Cooperation Zone and the broad-based development of Shantou.

Before the panel discussion, Li Jian'ge met with leaders from other municipal departments to exchange ideas on establishing international school and the construction of GTIIT South Campus, etc.
Attendees included leaders from Shantou government, like Qiu Yihui, Lin Yimin and Chen Wunan. Lin Danming, Pro-Vice Chancellor of GTIIT and Vice-president of Shantou University, also joined the activities.
