Foreign language contest:

to the national final!

In the 2024 "FLTRP·ETIC Cup" "Understanding Contemporary China" International Communication Contest - Guangdong Division, GTIIT students competed with strong competitors and achieved great success, winning 1 1st prize, 2 2nd prizes, and 3 3rd prizes! Among them, Tu Feitong (Cohort 2023 MCS program), won the 1st prize of the comprehensive ability and advanced to the national final, where she earned another 3rd prize with outstanding performance.

At the competition venue, GTIIT students drew on their personal experiences and international perspectives, integrating scientific and engineering thinking to vividly tell Chinese stories and convey the voice of China. They showcased excellent foreign language skills and keen critical thinking, highlighting the effectiveness of GTIIT's international education.

Compared to last year, GTIIT students set new records in both the number of award winners and their rankings, successfully advancing from the provincial competition to the national final. "Confidence and courage — stands as the biggest advantage of GT students. From the first day of school, we were taught to express our views boldly and not to worry about others' opinions." From practices in English classes to the national stage, Tu Feitong sincerely appreciated GTIIT, saying, "it’s a place that can uplift me and touch what I can reach within my abilities. Here, everything is possible."

Programming contest:

first medal in ICPC!

GTIIT students participated in the 49th International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) Asia Shanghai Regional Contest for the first time and obtained remarkable results, bringing home GTIIT's first medal in ICPC.

The team consisted of captain Xue Yijie (Cohort 2024 MCS program), and team members Zhang Yanran (Cohort 2024 MSE program) and Guo Yuhang (Cohort 2023 BFE program). They united as one and bravely competed against other groups, winning the silver medal! At the Asia EC Final of this competition, Xue Yijie and his teammates engaged in peak competition with hundreds of teams and earned a bronze medal.

ICPC is globally recognized as the largest, highest-level, and most participated university programming competition, often referred to as the "Olympics" of the IT industry. Since registering for it, GTIIT actively conducted various training sessions, enhancing students' programming skills, team spirit, and decision-making abilities under pressure, earnestly cultivating digital talents with innovative thinking and practical skills.

Math contests:

continuous good news!

The results of the preliminary round of the 16th National College Student Mathematics Competition "Guangdong Division" and the 14th Guangdong University Mathematics Competition were announced, with GTIIT students returning with honors. Zhang Jingbin (Cohort 2023 MCS program), won the first prize (Mathematics B), while Fu Weilai (Cohort 2023 MSE program), secured the third prize (Non-Mathematics A).

In addition, in the 2024 National College Student Mathematical Modeling Competition Guangdong Division, Guo Hongqiong and Zhong Rui, both students from Cohort 2023 ME program, along with Zhang Jingbin (Cohort 2023 MCS program), stood out and won the third prize, demonstrating strong logical thinking and problem-solving abilities. Established in 1992, this competition is one of the first 19 competitions included in the "University Discipline Competition Ranking" and has become one of the largest comprehensive subject competitions in which universities across the country participate.
