On March 22, Guangdong Science and Technology Department held a Policy and Research Program Introduction Workshop (Eastern Guangdong Session) at the North Campus of the Guangdong Technion - Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT). Over 140 representatives from universities, research institutes, enterprises, and other innovation entities attended the event to gain fresh insights into the latest policy developments and enhance the precision of policy implementation.

The meeting was attended by Wu Shiwen, Deputy Director of Guangdong Science and Technology Department; Lin Xiaona, Director of Shantou Science and Technology Bureau; Prof. Gong Xingao, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chancellor of GTIIT; Prof. David Gershoni, Vice Chancellor of GTIIT; Prof. Lin Danming, Pro-Vice Chancellor of GTIIT; Tao Liang, Dean of Research of GTIIT; as well as faculty representatives from various departments of GTIIT.

Wu Shiwen stated in his speech that GTIIT, as a cradle for technological innovation, has achieved remarkable results in areas such as cutting-edge research, talent cultivation, and the construction of academic exchange platforms. He hoped that this workshop would help research entities accurately grasp policy opportunities, promote the deep integration of technological innovation and industrial development, and assist eastern Guangdong in playing a more significant role in the high-quality development of the entire province.

Sun Yanzhe, Deputy Director of the Policy, Regulation and Innovation System Construction Division of Guangdong Science and Technology Department, systematically introduced Guangdong's science and technology policies, with a particular focus on policies related to basic research, technological innovation, achievement transfer, etc.

Yu Kai, Deputy Director of the Exchange and Cooperation Division of Guangdong Science and Technology Department, highlighted Guangdong's international exchange and cooperation programs, encouraging scholars present to leverage international platform resources and actively participate in the global innovation network.

Chen Yushan, Director of the Supervision and Audit Department of the Guangdong Basic and Applied Basic Research Foundation, provided a comprehensive overview of the system of Guangdong basic and applied basic research and offered key insights into the application of certain projects.

During the Q&A session, the speakers engaged in in-depth discussions with audiences on issues such as project applications for foreign experts, provincial basic research projects, and NSFC projects, providing practical guidance for future research endeavors.

This session not only precisely aligns with the practical needs of research institutions, universities, and enterprises, helping to bridge the "last mile" of policy implementation, but also represents a significant step in promoting technological innovation and industrial upgrading in eastern Guangdong, which will inject strong momentum into the transformation of scientific achievements and industrial advancement.
