"I want to challenge myself at GTIIT." Facing the rigorous MCS program, Yuhang transformed academic hurdles into nourishment for growth. The thought-provoking discussions between teachers and students, and the moments of sudden enlightenment fueled his passion for mathematics. At GTIIT, his dream place for studies, his proved talent is merely the starting point—only by hard work and perseverance can someone unlock the gates of mathematical mastery.

Love for mathematics: pushing limits through challenges

To Yuhang, mathematics is never just about formulas and calculations. He is always captivated by the pure joy of discovering innovative solutions in moments of inspiration or overcoming tough problems through rigorous reasoning. "I've always wanted to study abroad and continue learning mathematics, so I was looking for a Sino-foreign cooperative university. When I heard about GTIIT's world-class faculty team and high teaching standards with challenging curriculums, I wanted to push myself and dive deeper into the program."

"It's definitely not easy—every course requires a huge amount of time and effort." Yuhang admitted that he spent the most exhausting period in the first semester, and also his "craziest" period. The English-teaching environment, high-intensity coursework, unfamiliar knowledge, and his pursuit of top grades all weighed heavily on him. He often studied late into the night, even skipping meals out to save time. Yet, this workload only made him happier—"because they are the subjects I love."

"If you can find happiness in something, the hardship is not hard anymore. Besides, the professors here teach us with passion, and I'm surrounded by like-minded, interesting classmates. Every day is meaningful and unforgettable."

Great mentors: a priceless gift on the academic journey

"I am very lucky—I've met the best teachers here at every stage." Yuhang fondly recounted the support of each professor. "In the first semester, Assoc. Prof. Sergio Manuel Iguri, Tutor Mayra Mendez Carrera, and Teacher Aldana Maria Gonzalez Montoro helped me lay a solid foundation with their enthusiasm and patience." He always sat in the front row, actively answered questions, and even requested extra exercises.

In his second year, Assoc. Prof. Pablo Manuel Roman, whom he met in Infinite Calculus II, became the most influential mentor in his academic journey. "He's kind and always explains complex, abstract theories clearly, then illustrates them with concrete examples." Yuhang loved exchanging ideas with Pablo and visiting his office to delve into details.

This dynamic mentor-student friendship, led him to join Pablo's research group without hesitation—an experience that proved immensely rewarding. "Not only did I learn programming skills beyond the class, but I also applied theoretical knowledge to practice for the first time." He admitted that research was far more engaging than lectures alone, allowing him to see tangible progress and savor the satisfaction of achieving results.

Yuhang's thirst for knowledge stemmed from the professors' infectious passion for their research. He especially highlighted Professors Luz Roncal, Jacob Mostovoy and Antti Rasila. "They're all incredibly good teachers. Attending their classes is fascinating and deepened my love for mathmatics."

"GTIIT's professors are truly amazing!" he said warmly. "Most of my teachers will nicely say Hi to me when we meet on campus. When I was applying for graduate programs, they tirelessly wrote recommendation letters and even helped revise my resume. I'm so grateful to all of them!"

He also emphasized the advantages of English teaching environment for graduate applications. "Many universities waive language requirements, so IELTS or TOEFL scores aren't needed." Additionally, GTIIT's abundant research opportunities strengthened his applications. In the past few years, he has grown from struggling to understand lectures to communicating fluently in English, and from fearing public speaking to confidently expressing himself. "This is what GTIIT has offered me."

For high school students considering GTIIT, Yuhang offered sincere advice: "If you're someone who craves challenges and seeks a global perspective, GTIIT will be an ideal platform. Here, you'll not only be exposed to an English teaching environment that hones your language skills but also meet dedicated professors who patiently guide you. There are also advanced labs for fascinating experiments. If you make the most of these resources, this place will become your gateway to the world."
