Amid the summer heat, the construction of research facilities at GTIIT's South Campus is in full swing. The most notable project is the Pilot Plant lab building, designed to align with domestic industrial development needs.

A Catalyst for Creative Talent Education, A Bridge Between Research and Industry

The Pilot Plant refers to intermediate testing phase, is a critical step in transitioning products from the lab to mass production, aiming to verify products' feasibility, stability, and manufacturability. The GTIIT Pilot Plant will provide students and researchers in Biotechnology and Food Engineering, and related fields with a cutting-edge platform to advance practical learning and industrialize research outcomes. More importantly, it opens new avenues for innovation in talent development.

The completion of the Pilot Plant will bridge the "last kilometer" between research and industry at GTIIT. Drawing on the Technion's successful experience in innovation and entrepreneurship education, the building's proximity to GTIIT's research centers is designed to immerse students in real-world industrial applications of scientific knowledge and cutting-edge technologies, thereby strengthening their capacity to engage in technological competition.

Substantial Government Backing for Advanced Facilities

With a floor area of approximately 2,817 square meters and a total investment of nearly 40 million RMB, the Pilot Plant has earned strong provincial and municipal governmental support. Dedicated funding has been allocated, and the Shantou Government Agent Construction Center oversees the entire project.

At present, the decoration of the Pilot Plant is nearing completion. Most areas have completed the installation of indoor fresh air, exhaust, and steam pipes. The remaining small pipes, such as chilled water and compressed gas pipes, will also be gradually completed with the progress of the ceiling project. At this stage, the construction team is sparing no effort to carry out the roof pipe construction work to ensure that the project is completed on time, with high quality and quantity.

New Semester, New Aspirations

As the new semester begins, this brand new Pilot Plant is expected to be completed and put into operation. It will become a new hub for GTIIT students to explore scientific frontiers and conduct innovative experiments.

The launch of the Pilot Plant will further enhance GTIIT's talent cultivation and research capabilities, injecting fresh vitality into regional economic and technological development.
