From July 14 to 15, Israeli Ambassador to China Eli Belotserkovsky and Consul General of Israel in Guangzhou Alex Goldman Shayman visited Guangdong Technion – Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT).
On the south campus, in front of the education building, guests including Prof. Peretz Lavie, founding Chairman of GTIIT’s Board, former President of Technion planted a cypress tree together to mark the 10th anniversary of GTIIT. It carries the wish that GTIIT will uphold Technion’s spirit, forging ahead with courage and perseverance.
“This is my first visit to GTIIT, and its development is truly inspiring,” said Eli Belotserkovsky. Walking through the south campus gate, he was deeply impressed by the campus vegetation, efficient rainwater and modern buildings. In front of the campus model, the guests learned about the progress of campus facilities. “Israel and China have many cooperations in politics, economy, tourism and culture, but GTIIT is undoubtedly the most unique,” Eli Belotserkovsky remarked.
During the visit, Ambassador Eli Belotserkovsky and his delegation had a discussion with GTIIT leaders, exploring the history and exchanging ideas on the university’s programs, student cultivation and campus construction. He praised GTIIT’s remarkable achievements in talent development. “As a research university, I hope that GTIIT will inherit Technion’s academic spirt and cultivate graduates with innovation capabilities and global vision.”
The guests also visited GTIIT’s Cryo-EM lab, Synthetic Biology & Intelligent Control Lab, Food Sustainabiome Lab and Soft Wearables Lab. They learned in detail about the GTIIT’s cutting-edge experimental equipment and research progress and had lively exchanges with the lab faculty and students.
