On October 31, Guangdong Technion - Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT) held the 2025 Awarding Ceremony of the "Fanghui Scholarship" and "CICP Scholarship", encouraging GTIIT students to strive for progress and scale new heights in science.

Leaders and guests attending the ceremony included: Prof. Gong Xingao, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, former Chancellor of GTIIT; Mr. Zhang Yunhui, Chairman of Hunan Chamber of Commerce in Shantou; Prof. Liu Wenhua, Acting Chancellor of GTIIT; Dr. Queena Yi, Pro-Vice Chancellor for Development of GTIIT and President of GTIIT Education Foundation.

Prof. Liu Wenhua expressed that the establishment of the scholarships provides tangible support and motivation for GTIIT students, allowing them to focus more on their studies and pursue their dreams. He said that the establishment of both the "Fanghui Scholarship" and the "CICP Scholarship" would not have been possible without Prof. Gong Xingao's unwavering commitment and contributions. "Since assuming the role of Chancellor of GTIIT in April 2021, Academician Gong has led the faculty and students with profound dedication to education and remarkable foresight, working diligently with determination. Every achievement the university has attained over the past four years reflects his meticulous efforts and wisdom." In August 2025, the GTIIT Academician Workstation led by Academician Gong Xingao was approved for establishment, which will contribute to cultivating innovative talents and building a high-level talent hub in the future.

This year, 17 undergraduate freshmen from Hunan received the 2025 "Fanghui Scholarship", and two undergraduate freshmen from Changzhou received the "CICP Scholarship".

Mr. Zhang Yunhui congratulated the scholarship recipients and encouraged them to delve into academic exploration, broaden their horizons, lay a solid foundation for their future careers, and contribute their youth and strength to social progress. He expressed his hope that the "Fanghui Scholarship" would bring more attention from all sectors of society to education, jointly promoting educational equity and quality, and cultivating more outstanding talents with international competitiveness.

Wan Fangyi, a recipient of the "Fanghui Scholarship" and a student from GTIIT Materials Science and Engineering Program, shared her rich learning experience at GTIIT. "This honor constantly reminds us to not only deepen our knowledge and refine our character but also to embrace dedication and pursue excellence; striving to grow into young individuals with solid expertise, an innovative spirit, and international vision."

"This honor represents the high expectations my hometown has for me, bringing me warmth and strength as I pursue my studies far from home," said Chen Tongxu, a recipient of the "CICP Scholarship" and a student from GTIIT Biotechnology and Food Engineering Program. She expressed that she would use this as motivation to delve deeper into her professional field in future studies, strengthen international perspective, enhance practical abilities, and repay this trust with concrete actions.

Prof. Gong Xingao expressed gratitude to Mr. Zhang Yunhui and his wife Ms. Lu Huifang, who have shown care and support for education by establishing the "Fanghui Scholarship", as well as to the China-Israel Changzhou Innovation Park for setting up the "CICP Scholarship". He noted that the establishment of the scholarships not only helps outstanding students set sail toward their dreams, but also allow us to witness the moving picture of social forces and universities joining hands to cultivate a new generation for the times. "I hope students can inspire those around them to progress together while pursuing their own growth," he said. He encouraged the students to take this awards ceremony as a new starting point, seeking knowledge in academic exploration and finding direction in serving society, and growing into innovators with both international perspectives and a pragmatic spirit.
