Understand Fire Safety
Safeguard Campus Peace
November marks the 34th National Fire Safety Month. In response to the call of "Fire protection for all, life comes first — Safe Use of Fire and Electricity," and to further enhance the fire safety awareness and emergency preparedness of students and staff, the Guangdong Technion - Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT) hosted a fire safety awareness campaign across both South and North campuses. The event featured several interactive segments. Professionals from fire safety training organizations delivered educational talks, demonstrating the proper use of dry powder fire extinguishers and the correct way to wear gas masks.
At the same time, vivid case studies were shared to emphasize the importance of "safe use of fire and electricity." To boost engagement and interactivity, the event also included a prize-based quiz. Students and staff enthusiastically participated in the fire safety trivia in a fun and enjoyable format.
Fire safety requires sustained effort. Let us take this campaign as an opportunity to start with the small details in our daily lives, internalizing safety awareness and putting it into practice, working together to protect the safety and peace of GTIIT campus.
Less Takeout, Eat Smart
To promote healthy eating awareness among students, GTIIT recently hosted a nutrition-themed activity. Through vivid interaction, the event exposed hidden dangers of takeout food while disseminating dietary knowledge, embedding healthy eating concepts into campus culture.
“I never knew the braised chicken rice might use spoiled frozen meat, or that my long-term weight-loss salads could carry nutritional imbalance risks!” The event had many sessions, combined education with entertainment, deeply embedding the “healthy eating, happy life” philosophy.
During the sugar-control challenge, students guessed and then weighed the sugar content of popular drinks, experiencing the “power” of the hidden sugars. When learning that a 500ml iced pear drink contained 60g of sugar and seemingly refreshing iced black tea reached 52g, many said to cut back on sugar drinks.
The event also featured Dr. Huang Qingxia, a physician of clinical nutrition and respiratory department from First Affiliated Hospital of Shantou University Medical College, who delivered a speech on scientific eating, nutritional balance, and common dietary misconceptions. By emphasizing the importance of balanced diets, she encouraged students to cultivate healthy lifestyles through daily eating habits.
Strengthen AIDS Prevention
Safeguard Youth Growth
Ahead of 2025 World AIDS Day, and in line with this year's theme, “Overcoming disruption, transforming the AIDS response,”, GTIIT partnered with the Jinping District Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) of Shantou on November 28th to organize an on-campus AIDS prevention campaign.

At the event, healthcare experts used brochures and display boards to explain key knowledge about HIV transmission routes, preventive measures, testing, and treatment. Tailoring the session to university students, they particularly emphasized the importance of safe sex and voluntary testing.

The interactive zone featured engaging activities such as AIDS awareness puzzles, health trivia wheels, and prize quizzes. The lively atmosphere helped reinforce the message of “Know AIDS, Prevent AIDS” among attendees.

GTIIT will further refine its long-term health education mechanisms and integrate AIDS prevention into daily operation, contributing to ending AIDS epidemic and safeguarding youth well-being.
